“Never Again”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011

While checking, in the Desk clerk tryed to charge extra pernight, above the booked price and after an hour with the booking agent and checking other hotels we were stuck with this sub par hotel. old soap left in the "clean" Shower as well as a roll of towlette paper on top of the bowl which looked as if it fell into dirty water.and no towels or remote (untill asked for).

Room Tip: don't be cheep

“Never Have I had such a terrible experience with a hotel!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2011

My sisters and I were shocked by this hotel. We arrived after making reservations with Expedia. I thought it would be satisfactory as the price was quite expensive for the area. The hotel was run down and worn out. There were no towels in the room. The screen in the bathroom was broken and the curtain was missing. There was no soap or tissues. We got only half of a roll of toilet paper and the pillow cases were stained and nasty looking. The fridge was tiny and the room smelled. It was very shabby. When we complained we were abused by Alex the manager. He shouted and accused us of being liars and racists. Where that came from we did not know. When we contacted Expedia, they contacted the hotel and the manager said he had offered us three other rooms. Not true. He said we had brought two other people into the room. Not true (where would they go as the room was so tiny?) He said we broke a window. Not true (why did he not call the police?) He said we were racists and get out of the hotel and go back to Canada. He was threatening and we made sure we took pictures to verify our experience. It was nasty nasty nasty. When we booked into another hotel in Cooperstown area, we were told that the Budget Inn, Sharon Springs has turned off many travellers and they leave before sleeping in those rooms.

Room Tip: Before handing over your credit card, ask to see the room first..

“If you're going to visit this area, be willing to pay for a better place”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2011

This was one of the most affordable places to stay that was somewhat near Cooperstown (30 min. away), but if you are going to visit during the peak season, it's not worth it unless you are willing to pay those high rates at a good bed and breakfast. Either pay for a good place, or don't go at all. The level of cleanliness at this motel is the lowest I've experienced at any lodging establishment. The first thing I noticed when I walked up to the door of my room was that there were cigarette butts in the ashtray on the porch area beside the door. After I went into my room, I noticed an empty snack food container discarded on one of the bedspreads. The pillows reeked strongly of body odor and probably have not been laundered in a very long time. Check out time is 9 am. The owner is nice and tries his best, but he really needs to hire more staff to meet minimum standards. I think he's trying to maintain this place by himself, and it's just too much to handle without hiring more staff.

Beware the posted rate are $40-$65/nite. They will gouge during cooperstown events ($150). The sheets are dingy, shower and outlets a mess. Be ware when committing to more than one nite. Can't cancel.
