“Quality has gone down since we last were here”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2010

We quite often stay at this Holiday Inn Express because it's right off the interstate, easy to get to & had always been very satisfactory accomodations. This time we had a room facing the interstate, so there was noise from the traffic all night long. Plus there were big flood lights shining on that side of the hotel which also illuminated our room too! The bed was so soft and bouncy that my back was killing me by morning. The bathroom was fairly clean, but the water had such an odor to it that I gagged while brushing my teeth. Not sure what that was. The breakfast bar was decent and even offered yogurt as well as eggs, sausage, biscuits, pastries, bagels, etc. We were disappointed with the staff when they didn't even bother to ask how everything was when we checked out. It's a very convenient hotel to stay in, but maybe we'll go further up the road next time.

“Best hotel in the area but could be even better. . .”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2010

We have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Schoharie repeatedly over the last 4 years because it is only an hour away from Plattekill where our son competes in bike races and is the best hotel we have found in the area. The rooms are pleasant and clean enough and a generous breakfast is available in the mornings. We stayed there three times this summer, in May, July and September, and all three times noticed that the water at the hotel is brownish. The color is noticeable even in a glass of water. We pointed this out to the ladies at the desk and they acted so surprised and asked for our room number - as if this was a problem with the room! The rooms cost about $130/night before taxes - a little steep for brown tap water. But otherwise, the location is convenient and rooms on the south side have a pretty view of the Schoharie valley.

“BASIC!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2010

We used this Holiday Inn Express the night before my daughter went to college. The room was basic at best. The beds were hard and not comfortable at all. The room needs updating and smelled of old smoke. The air conditioner was loud and not cooling the room. The breakfast was awful. I have stayed in the regular Holiday Inns and they usually serve something tolerable, but the bananas were brown and the choices lousy! Will drive a little further next time and stay in Albany.

“Pleasantly surprised”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2010

Did not have high expectations of a hotel located in the middle of cow country. Was pleasantly impressed by this location. My room turned out to be a suite; the king size bed was extremely comfortable, with soft sheets and sleep inspiring pillows. Plus free wi-fi and breakfast.
Only negative was the slow check-in, and my room not being ready despite my checking in after 3 p.m.

“Perfectly adequate”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2010

Not Four Seasons but as advertised on line-- much better than reviews. Had room with 2 queen beds. Plenty of space in room. Room also had ironing board, hair dryer, laundry bag and generic toiletries. TV with multiple channels including HBO. Plentiful complimentary breaksfast incuding eggs. Friendly, responsive staff at front desk. Drawbacks: No pool indoor or outdoor so little for kids to do at hotel (small Arcade). Backs up on Rte 88 so some noise in rear rooms.
