“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

The highs of this stay were the hotel's pleasant location and fairly nice room. Sadly, everything else was a low.
Just finding the place was frustrating. We had detailed directions, but twice drove right past the small, knee-level sign that marks the long access road into the hotel. The building is attractive, but not always comfortable. No air conditioning in public spaces like corridors, for example -- a minus in summer heat.
The free breakfast is handy, since there's only a Dunkin' Donuts nearby, but food is poor quality and basics like jam for toast just ran out. By day two, we were happy to pay Dunkin for much better coffee and a muffin.
Service was uneven. When I complained of dark brown water from our bathroom fixtures, a clerk shrugged it off. But later, a courteous manager offered a more informative answer, apparently had the problem fixed (water turned clear, allowing me to shower) and when we left, discounted our room rate for that day.
Not a terrible stay, but I'd be reluctant to return.

“HIX at it's worst!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2011

I stay at different HIX all the time for business and the points and this is by far the worst of the chain. The only good thing about this Hotel is it is convenient to the Factory that I visit in the area. The expression "lipstick on a pig" is appropriate for this place. The rooms smell like old cheese and are very basic for the price. I got a spa room after a long day and the water was fluorescent green.

The business center consists of one computer with a printer that usually has a front desk person surfing on it. The staff while friendly enough lack motivation.

The breakfast is the usual Holiday Express Fare except the staff doesn't care about it's preparation, not once have i seen the HIX sausage gravy, the OJ is always watery or just water because the 3 gals at the front desk are too busy chatting to worry about customer service. The sign at the front desk saying "Please be patient as we are working diligently to improve the appearance of the Hotel" is a nice touch. But, until they do something about basic customer service this place will remain a dump.

“No problems - no frills”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2011

We stopped over there with the family because it was the only reasonable option within an hour of Copperstown. I think we paid $85 on Priceline, and that seems expensive for what you get. The town is kind of in the middle of nowhere - lot's of farms and woods - very pretty. It's so tucked out of the way and lowkey that we had trouble finding it.

The room we had was clean and mid sized. Everything was very plain here-no frills. Either there was no wi-fi or it was down the night we stayed. The one employee we saw was friendly and helpful. Tiny business center and fitness room, no pool. If you're coming around dinner time you may want to stop in Albany because this was a quaint little town and the only place to eat is a little pizza shop. I guess there are options about 15 minutes down the road. There was a free hot breakfast included and that was good - saved us about $20. A mile or two from the hotel is a cute covered bridge you can visit. So we had no problems - no frills. I wouldn't spend a $100 to stay here.

“OK”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2011

Hotel is located all alone but is very peaceful. Only businesses Dunkin Donut and gas station close by. Clean, old old tv. Not a bad hotel (of course good breakfast) just cost too much for an isolated location.

Room Tip: We were on 1st floor at our request, but could hear the people on 2nd floor walking. Luckily we were...

“Nice hotel for the area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2011

This is not the Ritz but our room was very clean, had a lot of TV stations and the Internet speed was very good.

Breakfast was the standard Holiday Inn breakfast. Nothing special but the area was clean and orderly.

If we were in the area again we would stay there again.
