“Not as good as expected.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 July 2011

My family decided to stay here after assuming it would be the safest option of hotels in the area. The staff that were there when we arrived were very friendly; however, the first room they gave us had a clogged toilet and the one we moved into afterwards was very VERY wet floor around the air conditioner. (The staff we told the next morning seemed very unconcerned) Otherwise it wasmostly decent, and the breakfast room had a super-cool instant-pancake-maker-thingy. Essentially, it's decent if you're staying in the area but not up to parr with hotels in other places.

“Middling HIX, friendly staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2011

Stayed here for one night on a recent business trip. Though I didn't get a chance to sample a lot of the facilities, the room was extremely clean and well maintained. However, the alarm clock was missing. The bed was very soft. I was short on time for breakfast in the morning, and found that many of the breakfast items had run out -- so I wasn't able to grab anything to go.

Check-in and check-out staff were very friendly. I'm sorry I didn't have time to let them resolve the problems I encountered.

Pricing seems a bit high for such a remote area.

“Best Hotel in area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 April 2011

This hotel is the best hotel in the area. My room was large and bright compared to similar hotels. Bed mad me felt at home. The bathroom was very cleaned and had granite top sink. The front desk was very helpful to find me a good restaurant in this very remote area. The breakfast was exellent and had hot eggs, sausage and baconm with pancakes and cinnamon rolls. Overall it was very satisfactory experience.

“Worst Holiday Inn Express EVER”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 March 2011

We recently stayed at this hotel...and by recent I mean as I sit on the bed still before check out. This hotel is a shame to the Holiday Inn Express name! Service was horrible. We arrived in the evening around nine. My husband, daughter and two friends were staying here for one night to visit Howe's Cavern. The woman at the front desk seemed pleasant at first. After checking in, dropping our stuff off at our room, we left for food and Walmart. When we arrived back we interrupted her television watching in the breakfast area to ask for more towels. The room had two for four adults. "That means I have to go get them" was her response. To her credit she did bring them within five minutes. The next morning we headed for breakfast. The cinnamon rolls were cold, no fruit or yogurt and every bread product was stale! I do not recommend this hotel if you are familiar with the Holiday Inn Express! I know next time I will stay in Albany.

“Quality has gone down since we last were here”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2010

We quite often stay at this Holiday Inn Express because it's right off the interstate, easy to get to & had always been very satisfactory accomodations. This time we had a room facing the interstate, so there was noise from the traffic all night long. Plus there were big flood lights shining on that side of the hotel which also illuminated our room too! The bed was so soft and bouncy that my back was killing me by morning. The bathroom was fairly clean, but the water had such an odor to it that I gagged while brushing my teeth. Not sure what that was. The breakfast bar was decent and even offered yogurt as well as eggs, sausage, biscuits, pastries, bagels, etc. We were disappointed with the staff when they didn't even bother to ask how everything was when we checked out. It's a very convenient hotel to stay in, but maybe we'll go further up the road next time.
