Stayed for one night following a wedding at Mallozzi's across the parking lot. The location makes this hotel an excellent choice for someone attending a wedding. This is a small hotel-two floors, maybe 30 rooms (some wedding attendees could not get rooms because there weren't enough). This hotel seems to be geared primarily for wedding guests, I suspect. The rooms are nice, have nice bathrooms-granite, hair dryers, etc. My only recommendation on the rooms would be to improve the lighting-they are somewhat dark even with all lights on. Free breakfast bar was nice, juice, coffee and pastries-brought in daily. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Several previous posters commented on the lack amenities and lack of other entertainment in the immediate area which I have to agree with. The location of this hotel is basically in a commercial zone, primarily shopping. I wouldn't say it was a "bad" neighborhood. There is no bar or restaurant at the hotel and there does not appear to be any entertainment, clubs, restaurants, etc. nearby-with exception of Dunkin' Donuts. After the wedding that I attended, people wanted to go out for a drink, but it appeared the only option was to drive to downtown Schenectady which is a bit out of the way from the Belevedere-long story short, nobody ventured out and it was an early night.
The cost of the room was reasonable-discounted because we were attending a wedding there. the room charge was $88 + tax for one night (three people). All in all, it worked out pretty well. No, it's not the Ritz and yes, it would have been nicer if they had an in-house lounge or club nearby for after-hours entertainment; but I think because of the small size of the hotel, it's probably not cost effective to have in-house facilities. So for weddings, or if your visiting someone nearby, I would recommend this hotel. If you're looking for stuff to do nearby and not familiar with getting around town-this might not be your best choice. Kids would be bored here.
++They did have a VCR player in my room-go figure!
