I took my son and his friend skiing at Hunter Mountain during the MLK weekend and stayed at Confort Inn in Saugerties, located at the foot of the mountain. After reading some of the negative comments on this site, I was worried. But when we arrived at the hotel, we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel has a warm and attractive lobby. We booked two rooms and both were newly renovated, with modern furniture, mini-refrigerators and flat screen TVs. In the morning, we had cinnamon waffles, cereal, yogurt, coffee, juice and milk for breakfast-- and it was FREE. What more do you want for $90 a night? No the breakfast wasn't great, but it was fine considering it was FREE. What do you expect for FREE!. If you want fresh fruit and premium yogurt, go to the coffee shop next door and pay for it. I figure the free breakfast alone saved me $25 since my teens filled up on cerel, milk, juice and and waffles before going back on the slopes. I brought my own fresh fruit from home. No, it's not a luxury hotel, but it doesn't claim to be a luxury hotel. The rooms are small, which is why I booked two rooms. One for me and one for the teen boys to share. I can't image squeezing four people into one room, as atomicdoug wrote in his review. That's too many people and was bound to lead to problems. The windows in the rooms have heavy double draps that you can close if you want to block out the light, so I don't understand how atomicdoug can complain about the light from outside. Why didn't he just draw the drapes? This is a nice clean, modern, quiet, hotel for families looking for an inexpensive place to say for a few nights. I had no complaints at all.
