Not one to usually stay at a B&B because we like to move at our own pace and not incovenience anyone, this place all reservations aside (pun intended).
Saratoga Springs is just a lovely historical city, and the genuine history of this Inn is well preserved/restored. If you read into the various housings this Inn has served, it's amazing how much work was put in to restore it to its original elegance. When we booked we had the option to choose our room from the pictures they offered on their website based on availability. When you first arive you're pleasantly surprised by the lovely maincured grounds, the vast wrap around deck and the sheer opulence of the building itself, set on a corner grounds just 2 blocks walk from the park. The keepers are youthful and friendly and obviously care alot about this home and their guests. We chose the Annie room, a second floor corner unit, painted in hunter green with many period pieces strewn throughout. There is a fireplace in the foyer, a fireplace in the sitting/living room and magazines offered for leisurely reading. You're really here on your own pace, come and go as you wish, just be mindful that there are others staying here as well, so mindfulness of your "volume" is appreciated. Everything is just so lovely, the wood beam ceilings with their intricate design, the grandfather clock, the wine nook and wash basin in the living room and little breakfast nooks in the foyer as well to enjoy an intimate breakfast with your mate. When we woke on Sunday morning, not only was a lovely spread put out, with parfait, muffins, bagels, croissants, granola and cereal, but we learned after we stuffed ourselves that fresh made french toast and bacon were also put out in the other room. Tea, coffee and water were readily available even after breakfast were put out. Really felt like home.
The Inn keepers were absolutely lovely as well. We had a train out later that evening and since we didnt have a car, we had no place to stow our bags and didnt want to lug them around the town while we finished up our sight seeing, so they graciously offered to hold our backpacks until we returned to pick them up and head to the train. Lest I forget the great conversation, tips and recommendations they offered, I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Choice location, you'll love it!
Room Tip: Just look at the "map" of rooms and request your room of choice, depending on availability...
