My husband and I stayed here for one night in January with our small (15 lb.) Boston Terrier, who is a certified AKC Canine Good Citizen and a certified Therapy Dog. We were happy to find a hotel that takes dogs (not many do) and were determined to be responsible guests with our pet. This hotel charged a $75 surcharge to have our dog in the room, which we paid. The room itself was good--clean, spacious. We crated our dog the entire length of our stay (which was just a few hours overnight; we left at 6:30 am for an nearby agility event). Our receipt was left under the door and all seemed in order. BUT, when our credit card bill came, the hotel had tacked on an extra $100 over the total amount on the receipt!! I immediately called the hotel and we were told that the extra $100 was to clean the filthy mess our dog left--feces everywhere, according to the manager. Our dog most certainly did not defecate or urinate anywhere in that room. I immediately called our credit card company and contested the $100 charge. They've issued a temporary credit while they fight it out with the hotel. If the credit is reversed, I intend to file a complaint with the BBB, then take them to small claims court. It is incredible to me that hotels get away with this sort of thing, but be advised--if you go with a pet, make SURE you get someone from the staff to walk through the room before you check out. Get them to SIGN and DATE your receipt with a statement that your dog did not destroy their room. Get the manager's name and have him sign off on it too, if possible. This may not help, but at least you'll have additional evidence if you have to take them to court or contest the charge with your credit card company. But better yet, stay at the Comfort Inn & Suites- not as glamorous, but only $10 per day per dog and the staff will do a walk-through on checkout to verify the condition of the room, so you're not overcharged. Forewarned is forearmed at the Residence Inn!!!
Don't stay here. Staff is dishonest.

Thank you for taking the time to review our property. I apologize about any confusion regarding our pet policy, and I’m sorry to see that you were less than satisfied. Like all pet-friendly hotels, the extra fee we charge goes towards the extensive cleaning that is required to maintain a clean, healthy, and safe property for all our guests. I want to stress that we absolutely do appreciate pets and pet owners. We are animal lovers ourselves. However, in this case there was very clear evidence—physical evidence left behind as well as an overwhelming odor—of an animal, which required additional cleaning and sanitizing. Please understand that this was not just noted by myself and the housekeeping staff, but also the company we hire specifically to clean pet-occupied rooms.
