Pulling into the parking lot gave us a start - not what we expected at all. While we were clearly mature adults, we were warned not to trash the room and were assessed a $10 hold on our credit card. The lobby was dingy, having seen better days. On entering the room, the musty odor and sticky, unsightly carpet had us shaking our heads. If we had not pre-paid the exorbitant fee, we would have opted out immediately. To be fair, we managed to get a decent night's sleep and the receptionist tried her best.

My family and I go to Saratoga every summer. This year, we reserved our room at the Hampton Inn later than usual and could only reserve for 3 out of the 5 nights. So, we made the reservations for the other 2 nights at the Grand Union Motel. We had stayed there three times in past years and it had always been a nice place to stay. We were told that our room number was 60. We did not know a room 60 existed, considering there are only 30 rooms in the front perimeter of the motel. When we found room 60 behind the building, in some bushes bordering the property line with the motel and the bank on the corner, we were understandably upset. We opened the door (which was barely secure), and we were hit by a wall of musty air. There was a strange red stain on the carpet next to the front bed. The carpets were stained elsewhere and they were damp. The chair in the back bedroom had a stain and a wall that had clearly been repaired was not repainted. Long story short, the man sent a worker to FABREEZE the room and that was the last straw. The owner was of less than no help. Considering we were being charged $300 per night, we were outraged by his lack of caring and the extremely poor condition of the rooms were given. We ran across to the Hilton Garden Inn and thankfully they squeezed us in. Take my advice and avoid this place.

So a couple of friends of mine decided to go to Saratoga Springs for a conccert at SPAC at the last minute; and we did not want to spend alot of money....I thick this was the cheapest I found that was close to SPAC...Location is good. I had an idea of what I expected when I booked this hotel. So when I arrived I was not surprised at what a dump this place was. But it was perfect for the occasion. I never touched the floor with my bare feet. I would wear my flip flops when I would get out of bed and walk to the bathroom. The bathroom was clean. The sheets were clean, bedspread not sure. Bed slightly hard. Front Desk check it area was a mess. They had a great outdoor pool. Not sure of the spa; never used it or wanted too. Basically this place is good if you want to party with friends and drink and hang out. If I was attending a concert again I would definetly go back; but if I wanted to get away for a couples weekend with a nice dinner and cuddle time; I would not choose this place. I would stay at the place across the street. It looked verrrry nice. During racing season the whole town is very expensive, even this dump I stayed in. If I was attending the races I would not stay here. Hope this review helps...don't be afraid of booking this place; you might just like it for what it is.

This property once was a real jewel. It was run by a guest focued family that paid attention to details and kept the property in pristine condition. The new owners are running the place into the ground. There are few english speaking staff and the motel's value propostion is gone. Price is too high for so many faults. Below average.
