Unlike most of the reviews, we felt differently. On pulling up to the front door, we notice a " for sale " sign. We thought to ourselves , this isn't going to be good. We were shown to our room, and immediately noticed the olive green plush carpet on the floor of the bedroom as well as the bathroom. Really , isn't that from the 60's -70's? . It's definitely unsanitary to have carpeting in the bathroom. There was limited lighting to read , no alarm clock radio, so you didn't know what time it was unless you brought your own clock or used your cellphone. They don't supply shampoo, just soap. The towels weren't white , they were a dark print. That's always suspect that they weren't washed with bleach and of course it doesn't show stains. The bathroom shower was extremely tiny , we couldn't bend down if we wanted to. Maybe some other rooms are nicer than the one we stayed in. Who knows.
As far as b&b's go, we usually expect a hot breakfast... not here. They provide a meager breakfast of fresh fruit and one day I noticed a blueberry loaf cake. It's self - service. They do have hot coffee and juice. The breakfast room is very small and the door opens into the bar where the food is laid out, so people are bumping into each other trying to either get out or help themselves . It's very inconvenient. As a matter of fact, we chose to eat breakfast out after the first day.
Some other guest had a problem with the bathroom toilet overflowing and couldn't find the owners to get a plunger. They weren't answering their cellphone.
We asked if we could make a copy of directions, the owner said we don't have a copy machine. Crazy..
Notwithstanding, they do offer wine, water, juice in the common refridgerator. The bed was very comfortable.
The owners were available in the morning, usually socializing on the porch. We almost felt they were entertaining friends and family, and we were intruding. In fact , they were entertaining family that weekend.
And although , it is walking distance to most things, be prepared that it is at least a 20-30 min or more walk to the track and maybe 15 or more to the central part of town where all the shops and restaurants are.
This is a business after all and should be run as such. Not everyone is friends and family, and those who aren't are paying top dollar. Very dissapointing.
This was a very expensive place for what it offers. no question.

In response to this review I would like to say in 23 yrs in this business we have never had to address so many complaints from a customer, none of which were directed to either of us.#1after 23 yrs we should be able to sell our inn.#2 there are lights on both sides of the bed.#3there are clock radios inthe night stands of all our rooms.#4we furnish our rooms with high end designer/decorator comforters w/matching towels, they are washed daily.#5 sorry about the standard size shower stallit is what would fit in the bathroom.#6 if you expected a hot breakfast you should not have booked with us as we tell all potential guests exactly what our continental breakfast includes, fresh baked goods, fresh fruit (3 kinds) 3 choices of cereal, coffee, tea &juice.#7 the toilet issue was caused by an adult diaper being flushed by an adult,we did not receive a call our cell phone #s are posted next both entrance doors&are on &answered 24/7.#8 no copy machine ,no email address either CRAZY but TRUE #9 how rude of us to socialize w/our guests to the point of them being thought of as friends.many of our guests have bcome very good friends over the years&sorry our 2 adult daughters were staying at the inn that weekend & paying the same rate as you because IT IS A BUSINESS.Last but not least if it took you 30 min.to the track &15 min.to downtown you were walking way too slow. Obviously this reviewer had issues, The majority of other reviews on this site controdict what she says, you can't please everyone, but WE TRY.
