I stayed at this conference facility/hotel for a week. Here are my observations (in no particular order):
- The rooms & bedding need updating ... the decor and amenities are caught in 1980-something.
- The pillows are old; the glassware is plastic; furniture and carpet are worn.
- The rooms are just adequately cleaned; soaps and coffees are not regularly replemished.
- My toliet overflowed twice while I was there.
- The door key stopped working and needed to be re-programmed on 4 separate occasions; a real annoyance and the staff used the same excuse that my cell phone / PDA was too close to my key.
- The safe is the room didn't work; the battery was bad and needed to be replaced.
- The staff were helpful and pleasant when things went wrong; they seemed to care and sent help right away. As you can see, I had to call housekeeping and the front desk on multiple occasions. I definitely tested this service.
- The other guest room doors slam very loudly and can be heard in the room.
- The health club and pool were spacious and decent.
- Room service was good and prompt.
- I am unsure if this was the meeting planners fault, but for all the days that we were there, the dinner menu never changed.
- While the service in the pub was good, they held private functions around the pool table - so patrons could not play pool ... once of the few distractions - aside from drinking - that you can do in this hotel (in the middle of winter).
- Internet and telephone reception were poor on my level.
- I didn't use the 9 hole golf course - so no comment there.
Overall, the facility is nothing to write home about. I am unsure if I was grewing increasingly tired of the place because of the function I was attending, or whether I was truly seeing true flaws upclose over time. The room rate package is very steep here for those attending conferences, therefore, one would expect more amenities, newness and greater attention to detail.
