“Older property, but well maintained with good service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

My family and I (2 adults, 2 small children) stayed at this property in late December 2011, after landing a great deal (50% off) in one of Radisson's seasonal sales. This brought the price down to what one might normally expect to pay for a Motel 6, which was a real treat.

As the photos on TripAdvisor clearly demonstrate, this is an older property (built in the early 1980s by all appearances). This implies a certain look and feel to the place -- smaller windows, lower ceilings, and a general lack of "newness," but also sturdier construction and thicker walls between rooms. The guest rooms themselves have obviously been updated since construction, though not especially recently. Our room was neither "tired" nor freshly renovated, but rather somewhere in between; in short, quite satisfactory without exceeding expectations. The photos on TripAdvisor convey a very accurate impression of what to expect.

We were particularly impressed by three aspects of this hotel:

1. The pool was large, nicely-constructed and well maintained. This stands in contrast to many hotels built more recently, where the pool and surrounding deck area are tiny, existing less for the comfort of guests than to enable the hotel to claim "yes, we have a pool!" on the list of amenities.

2. The staff were very friendly. We were greeted with a genuine smile and treated with courtesy by front desk employees and operational staff alike. This suggests good management.

3. The location was very convenient to major shopping in the Rochester area, notably the Marketplace Mall and the big box stores along Jefferson Road. It was also fairly easy to reach from the I-90. Hence, a good stopover for those wishing to do some shopping while en route.

Our only complaint, and it is relatively minor, relates to the Sleep Number beds, which seemed to us to be less comfortable than many standard mattresses no matter what number we chose. It may be that there are multiple versions of these (some better than others?), but the ones we had left us a tad underwhelmed.

Overall, a very satisfactory experience. We'd stay here again.

“Good for the price and location but check the sheets.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011 via mobile

The hotel was good for the price & location; however, housekeeping didn't change the sheets. Booked thru. hotwire so we got a great price. To the hotel's credit they compensated us with a free breakfast buffet but I didn't appreciate having to change the sheets myself.

“OK for our needs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

This hotel JUST met the "Very Good" rating primarily based on housekeeping's outstanding service. Housekeeping went out of their way to find us what must have been the last 2 "regular" coffee packs left in this hotel. This was no easy task. LOTS of decaf though. Any request of housekeeping was met with a smile and a response of "I'll get that for you right away". Our 3rd floor room was good with a large TV although when the Amana brand PTAC heating system kicked on, you couldn't hear the TV. Sleep quality also suffered due to the noise of that unit. Our room was equiped with a microwave, coffee maker and a mini frig/freezer. The hotel is near shops, malls, restaurants and the airport. Plenty of parking was available. We would probably stay here again but we would insist on a room with a quieter A/C and heating unit.

Room Tip: Check the A/C and heating unit for noise. Anything louder than a whisper, ask for another room.

“great places”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

We called ahead about their pet policy and found they had some pet friendly rooms. When we arrived at about 8pm Nov 11, 2011, the place was really busy but the woman at the front desk was amazing-she made checkin smooth and quick--for about three people at the same time! The new beds were excellent, the room was good sized, and the staff and food at breakfast was very good, served by long term, positive employees. Hotel was really excellent and we'll try to plan travel so if we are close we'll go back. Ed Grayson

“Very good if the price is right!”

Stayed at the Radisson one night in September during our daughter's tennis tournament.

Reasonably priced (relatively) and conveniently located to RIT.

Five minute drive to several chain restaurants.

Holiday Inn is closer to the airport and a cheaper deal for park, sleep and fly, but this hotel has a slightly better ambiance and a great indoor pool.

OK, but not the best cleanliness/maintenance- wise.

Sleep number beds not very comfy and pretty hard to adjust.

Nice wooded area, fairly quiet.

Loud a/c and heating unit, but it created white noise to mask sounds from the hall and adjacent rooms.

Large indoor pool (no hot tub) is it's best feature and quite a bonus if you have the time to swim.

Very good for brief stays if the price is right.

Room Tip: Long hallways - people with difficulty walking may want to ask for a room that is fairly close to th...
