This was our second time to stay at this hotel. We have family in Rochester and this hotel is in an easily accessible location. The previous experience was two years ago and was pleasant. This time we started off on the wrong foot and continued that way for the duration.
We booked two rooms for a three night stay back in mid March. We requested connecting rooms and were told that this hotel does not have any. They said they would note that we wanted adjoining rooms. This wasn't the most ideal situation (the second room was for our teenagers), however we were okay with it.
Fast forward four months. We arrived at 3:20 P.M. on 07/16/11 to find out that our rooms were not together as requested. Not only were they not together, they were on the exact opposite ends of the hotel. Seriously, the rooms could not have been farther apart unless they were in separate hotels. They informed us that these were the only two rooms available, but we could move the kids closer the following night. We reluctantly accepted and went our separate ways.
The next disappointment was finding that our King room that we reserved was actually a double bed room. We accepted this because our youngest child could now stay with us. My wife was less than thrilled about the day so far, but it got worse. We returned to the hotel around 9:45 P.M. after visiting family to find that the entire hotel did not have hot water. The front desk could only tell us that they had called the maintenance guy and he was "on the way". The kids took cold showers that night. Fun! After trying to get to sleep, we heard a small pack of girls roaming the hallways. We had seen them checking their FB accounts in the business center earlier. The noise didn't last long, but it was enough to be irritating.
The following day we had our kids moved next door to us. We requested a roll away bed and were told that they cost $10 per night. After reminding them about the King bed screw-up, we didn't have to pay anything. We settled in that night and we were going to watch a movie with the kids. They went through the pay-per-views and came to an agreement on a movie. We tried to purchase the movie, but we were denied. After calling the front desk, we were told that the hotel does not subscribe to that service. Defeated, we went to bed.
6:30 A.M. the following day, we wake to a gurgling coffee pot noise. After stumbling around for a bit, we figured out that it was the refrigerator. The fridge unplugged, we slept for a little longer. This was the last of the problems, but enough that we will not stay at this location again.
