This little motel is a jewel. It is unpretentious, very quiet and has a charming garden and small lawn the width of the property that runs right down to waters edge on the Peconic River. When we first arrived I had my reservations, but the quietness and peacefulness of the setting grow on you. The rooms are bare basics, although the TV was better than I've seen in large Hotels and the air conditioner a lot quieter. There are no meals though there are small kitchens in each unit, bring your own coffee. It smacks of country cabins from 30 years ago. The owner Nick is very friendly and always willing to help with directions, questions or just chat. The town of Riverhead and the huge Atlantis Aquarium are 8 minutes drive. The garden and lawn has birds, rabbits and chipmunks. Families of Swans and mallards come right up to the small dock / boardwalk at the back of the garden and will gladly accept food from you. Sunrise and sunset have a certain magic here. Being from NYC, the relaxing atmosphere and quiet are a blessing. If your looking for glitz you wont find it here. If you want to relax, think and commune with nature this is the place.
