“New and improved”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

My love for Hyatt Place is obvious. This location is one of the best. The room layout is very similar to the others with a couple changes. There is no sink near the fridge and the bathroom was a shower only. The desk was a bit larger, which was nice.

The hotel gallery was larger than most with plenty of seating. It would have been nice to have a hot tub to relax in since I was feeling a little under the weather while there.

The location was great. I was there off-season but could see how people would like visiting the little town. Staff was fantastic, super friendly.

Room Tip: Rooms with a bay view are nice if you're into that sort of thing, but they charge extra for it...

“Bringing Riverhead Back”

Love this hotel! We had our wedding reception in the Sea Star Ballroom and then stayed overnight at the hotel. They were great about setting up a room block rate for our guests and even when the deadline passed, they still let a few of my friends book the block rate (thank you!!). Also, since we were a wedding they did not require a minimum stay like the usually do for weekends, which was much appreciated. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Pool and spa area nice as well! Hotel is right on the river so try to get a room facing the river (most king bed rooms face the street, unfortunately). I recommend eating at The Riverhead Project (two blocks away) or Jerry and the Mermaid (next door). I hope the Hyatt helps with the revamping and reviving of Riverhead!

Room Tip: River view rooms are great!

“Clean and efficient with friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

I have stayed at this hotel on several occasions and find it to be consistent. The rooms are typical Hyatt Place rooms split into two sections (sleeping and living) with a large screen television that can be angled to view from either the bed or the couch.

The rooms facing the back and the water are definitely preferable. The sink is outside the bathroom which is helpful when there are multiple travelers. There is a small indoor poll and an outdoor pool (which is not heated). When we first stayed in September, although the outdoor pool was open, it was just too cold to swim.

The free breakfast is nice and the selection pretty good. The wireless works well in the rooms and the rooms are clean. I had a couple of issues on my first stay with my family and the general manger was nice enough to send a basket of fruit on my second stay when I was traveling on business. The front desk staff is very friendly.

There is limited parking in front of the hotel and more availability in the back. As there is access to the hotel form the back with a card key, that is not a problem.

I would definitely stay here again and the free breakfast and indoor pool give it a slight edge over the Hotel Indigo several miles down the road.

Room Tip: some of the rooms in the front face the parking lot, which can be noisy in the summer months.

“Great customer service!”

I just spoke to an agent at this property in order to add a night to a stay for a wedding. This young lady was easily one of the most helpful and friendly agents I have ever had the pleasure to encounter. I have not even been to the property yet but I am impressed by the level of service I recieved. Although this lady said she was newly trained, she was expert in her handling of my request. Well done. More to follow.

“Impressed with Haytt Place concept/design”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

Had a recent one night stay here at this new hotel as part of a holiday event in connection with the adjacent aquarium (Atlantis Marine World - an outstanding aquarium BTW). It was my first stay at a Hyatt Place and I was very impressed and pleased with the efficiency of the design of this hotel. The way the room is set up with the flat screen TV that swivels to face the bed(s) or the sofa is very clever and an efficient use of space. As was the set up with the area when you first enter the room with the fridge/coffe maker/ desk area. No service issues whatsoever, the couple of staff members we dealt with were helpful. We didn't get to try anything from their Guest Kitchen window. However, I love the concept with it available 24/7 and you just enter your order on a touch screen. As for their complimentary breakfast, it was ok - some standard fare. I have had better (mostly becuase of expanded selections) and have had worse at other hotels. They could have had some chocolate milk for the kids, especially since their were so many families there for the holiday event. Only other negative is the parking situation. They only have a very small numner of spots in front of the hotel. There is some around back of the hotel and some additional parking across the street.

Room Tip: Avoid far end of hotel where rooms look out at the neighboring bar/restaurant "Jerry and the Me...
