“Cream scones to die for! A comfortable B and B near Bard College that sure beats the motel options”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 May 2010

We're parents of a Bard College student and during the past two years, we've stayed at Stone Church B and B at least six times while visiting our daughter. It's perfect for our needs: convenient, simple, affordable, and friendly. Marsha and Richard have four comfortable upstairs bedrooms, neat and clean with good beds. Marsha does incredible home baking for breakfast, which is served in a separate lounge area. Her cream scones are to die for! Usually, there's a fresh fruit salad, plain yoghurt, juice, scones or muffins, and an entree such as blueberry pancakes, french toast, or eggs with bacon or sausage. You won't leave hungry. The innkeepers are very accommodating about breakfast times --and for returnees, late arrivals,--and they gladly included our daughter at breakfast. This is THE place if you want simple, practical comfort, a friendly innkeeper, and a quiet country location in between Rhinebeck and Red Hook. If you need luxury, a historic inn, or antique furnishings, or are seeking the perfect spot for a honeymoon, try someplace else. This is a good haven for a business traveler, conference or concert goer, or someone visiting the college. Suitable for families, well priced, and you won't find a nicer host.

“Cozy and welcoming...”

Had a wonderful experience at Stone Chursch B & B! Was warmly welcomed by the owners and very much enjoyed the cozy peacefulness of my room. I ended up meeting interesting folks in the greatroom. Also loved that I could play romantic and nostalgic records on the turntable, and play ping-pong! Great! The surrounding area is lovely, and I had a nice solitary walk during my stay. Can't wait for my next visit!

“Very disappointing in most ways”

For $140 (including private bath), I was very disappointed. Upon arrival I politely told the owner it was not what we had in mind but she said she would charge us nonetheless os we stayed and made the best of it.

This seemed like a fairly ordinary suburban / ex-urban house where the big step to make it a B&B was to put numbers on the bedroom doors. Nothing was fancy or special - not the bed, the furnishings or the food. The interior doors are hollow core doors, so everyone has to tiptoe around. Our room was too small to even have a dresser.

The rooms have no TV...and no radio, CD or even dresser. Certainly no balconies, fireplaces, etc. There is a TV in the common / rec room - it is 19", not flat, not HD and would problably sell for $30 at a yard sale. In the same room they actualy have 8 track tapes.

I planned to take a bath, but didn't because there's a sign in the bathroom asking guests not to use much water because they have a well and a limited water supply.

The front of the house is one mess of weeds and dead plants after another. The view out the back window is of their working pickup truck with junk in the back.

The breakfast Sunday AM was average at best - small pancakes and store-bought ex-frozen sausages. The fruit and orange juice were fine.

So, before you go...a) they should atleast spend $500 on a decent TV set for their guests to share and another $500 planting some nice bushes across the front of the house and b) you should check out other places that won't feel like you're an adult who's visiting your folks' house.

“Nice experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2008

My wife and I had a nice stay at Stone Church B&B. Clean rooms . Marsha made us an excellent breakfast.
One negative is that the rooms are very close together so we could hear everything in the rooms next door.
Bottom line, would stay again!

“Loved the Stone Church Road B&B!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2008

This beautiful B&B, situated on 8 acres of forest land, literally lost in the woods, was a real find! The room and private bath were exceptionally clean, well-decorated and had air conditioning. It was also very quiet with a comfortable bed, which made for a good night's sleep. There was a fresh pot of coffee outside our door each morning! The breakfast was prepared to our likings and always started with a delicious bowl of fresh fruit salad. The hosts Marsha and her husband were most welcoming, friendly and helpful if you had any questions. We stayed 5 nights and would definitely come back again! We highly recommend this place. The price is also very reasonable. To boot, it's only about a 15-minute ride from the Omega Institute in case you're attending a workshop there.
