My husband & I recently spent a Saturday night at the Veranda House with friends. It was a much needed few days away from the noise of NYC. We found the Veranda House to be charming, and very conveniently located to town and nearby hiking in Ferncliff Forest. Yvonne was great and in my opinion, the perfect B&B hostess. She was informative (she told us of the Poet’s Walk nearby) but non-intrusive. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Our friends stayed in the Rose Room which was a larger room with a very comfy looking lounger. Our room was the Forget-Me-Not room which was smaller, but had the larger bathroom. French Toast for breakfast was yummy. I would definitely stay there again. And if you are in the area, I strongly recommend the Flatiron Restaurant in Red Hook – awesome!

I stayed at this inn this summer when visiting my family in the area. It was a very nice place and the innkeeper was perfectly fine. My only comment is that the breakfast is too late. By 9:00 am I need to be long gone. A buffet and coffee earlier is better. Thankfully Bread Alone is a wonderful cafe that is right in town and opens early.

We had planned a much needed getaway and were met by the innkeeper at the door. We asked to see room first, and when we did we noticed it was quite cold. We asked if anything could be done and she said she'd turn up the heat; when we returned much later the room was freezing and it remained that way all night.
The next morning when we complained she said she had turned up the heat and we had the warmest room. Hardly true, as we stepped into others that were naturally warmer.
We then checked out a day early and she said she had turned the heat on ( a little late) and actually tried to tell us that someone had flipped the ac switch instead.

Low lighting obscures an inn that needs "refreshing". Bathrooms were former closets and difficult to use. The breakfast was good, but served at 8:30 sharp- that was it.
