“Not the worst motel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

Way overpriced. No more than a $50.00 room at best. We payed over $100.00 probably because it was the start of Salmon season. There was a new rug, and the key card locks looked new. Of course the rug being new meant the door would not shut/ or open, so no need for the locks. Has not had anything else done to it since the 70's - water spots/ and patches on ceiling and walls. Make sure this is your only option before booking.

“Good value, friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

Not sure what people are expecting from a motel for the price to give bad reviews. It was very acceptable in our experience. Decor was very outdated and deffinately quite used but it was clean and the beds were comfortable. They had free wifi, a fridge, and a microwave in our room, and was exactly what we were expecting. They even have a small pool. We travel quite a bit and this was much cheaper than staying in a bigger city like Watertown. We have paid a lot more for less. They had a consevative breakfast, waffles and fruit but like I say, I've paid more for a room that didn't have any breakfast. We would stay here again! I wouldn't choose it for an extended vacation but as an overnight stop on the road, or somewhere to sleep if you are visiting the area it's perfect. The staff and the owners were all very nice and friendly. For 63$ a night in NY state you couldn't find anything better. We stayed in a room near the front desk and it was very quiet and we didn't have any mold issues etc... The rooms are more like a cottage than a hotel but I think you'd have to be pretty spoiled to find it unacceptable.

“You Can Easily Do Better”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2011

I stayed at this motel for two nights in late July, and I was amazingly underwhelmed in nearly all areas. Though the location is easy to find and the staff were cordial, the motel itself is in major need of a complete overhaul.

The paint on the walls has yellowed to a point where it looks rather unappealing, and the bed was one of the more uncomfortable I've slept in. Also, the box springs and frame made quite a bit of noise, even when just sitting on the edge of the bed. I found this out because there was NO WORKING SURFACE whatsoever in the room. No desk, no table, no nothing. This is perhaps necessary because the room was so incredibly small and tightly packed. I traveled with only a backpack, and even with that I felt quite cramped.

The bathroom is also small, and along with that, the showerhead is at an oddly low height. I am only 5'8", and I had to bend down in the shower. The water pressure itself also leaves much to be desired.

Finally, the motel does have free wi-fi, but the signal is so weak in signal, slow and unreliable, that I ended up using my mobile wireless card instead. There is simply no excuse for this anymore, as a good wireless router to cover the small footprint of the motel is maybe the better part of $40.

Oh, there was also not enough parking when the motel was full, so I had to "make" a space.

Taking all this into account, the nightly price for this overall lack of quality was far too high, and there are many other options in the area that would likely be of better value.

“Cheap, but not a value”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2011

This is a $40 motel that will charge you $75. Scratchy towels, no hot water in the sink, not enough chairs at the 2 tables in the breakfast room, cigarette stink under some kind of camouflage that smelled like baby powder, bad coffee. Never again!

“I can't believe this place has any good reviews”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 July 2011

We were assigned a room across the street from where the lobby/main building is. When we entered the room we couldn't breathe from the mouldy smell in the room. It was quite obvious from the stains in the ceiling, the roof had been leaking for a while. Apparently the owners/managers decided to just smear a little paint on the stains to half cover it up. The shower head looked like it was about to fall off the wall and there were brown stains all over the bathroom, heater, AC and smoke detector (which didn't have any batteries in it. If the entire room hadn't been so immensely filthy, I would have guessed they had used the curtains for cleaning the floors.

We're not fussy at all, but I just can't believe anybody would agree on sleeping in this health risk. When we returned to the lobby to describe the state of the room and ask for a better room, the lady at the desk - one of the owners - did not seem surprised that there was mould and filth all over the room, but was obviously taken aback by the fact that we wouldn't sleep in it. She offered us the room next to the one we had been in and even though we were pretty sure it couldn't be a lot better than the first one, we decided to check it out. Needless to say, that room was just as bad, so we headed back to the lobby.

Again the owners were very surprised we didn't like the room and showed us a room in the main building. It was about as dirty as the other rooms, but it didn't smell as bad. Since we had been driving all day we decided to stay there and just leave the door open for a while to get rid of the smell.

The toilet was literally right underneath the sink, which had partially come off the wall. It took the shower about five minutes to heat up, after which we had 2 minutes to actually shower before the water turned burning hot.

I could go on, but you get the picture, right?
