The hotel is composed of several buildings, some closer to the pier than others, most of them requiring you to bring your luggage up a flight of stairs. We arrived 12/25 around 8PM, and were shown to a nice corner room, but one of the beds was not made. Not clear if the sheets there were clean, and there were no toiletries in the bathroom (shampoo, soap, etc.). In addition, when my husband tried to lower the blinds, the cord broke off. The towel bar also came off in the bathroom. We were very tired, so we asked for the bed to be made, and the front desk initially told us the housekeeper had left for the night. Soon however, he came along with a handyman who could not fix the blinds on short notice. We were moved to another building, smaller room without a view. I asked for an upgrade given the inconvenience, but instead we were given a substantial discount on our rate and four passes for a full breakfast. The hotel is elegant, and if you get a waterview, the location is nice. I liked the wide showerhead in the bathroom too. Ultimately, the hotel response to our inconveniences was adequate, but clearly, did not make me feel this was a 4-5 star hotel experience. There should be no question of where housekeeping is at 8PM nor should the housekeeper forget to make a bed or stock the bathroom. We did get a handsome apology from Greg the handyman, who then helped escort us to the other room, which was not really his job, but he was trying to help us out, and we appreciated that.
