“Horribily uncomfortable even for a late night crash”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2011

We booked this place to crash for the night on our way driving from NYC to Montreal for a ski trip. We got there pretty late night where everyone were really tired, it was a standard room with 2 beds, good lighting at least, but the bed was so uncomfortable i felt like i was sleeping on a box spring, and the sheets got stains on it i felt like i was sleeping in a cheap motel! The pillow was so flat, even tho i was so tired, i couldn't sleep in that condition. Other than that, it's got the basics, fridge, coffe maker and microwave that we didn't really use. For the price we paid, i'll rather upgrade to a better quality hotel.

“Pretty bad!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2010

Night desk lady was pleasant, and the room rate was do-able. But that's where the good times ended. I am a retired trucker, and have been in some holes before, this rates right up with the worst of them. The room COULD have been great, nice little kitchenette sort of thing, it would be perfect for families travelling, or for a longer term business stay. BUT it was filthy. Silverfish in the sinks and tub, one washcloth and towel, sheets had been washed but poorly, and didn't fit the bed, one rollover and the fitted sheets were pulled loose revealing a stained, old mattress and a thin and not very clean throwover pad. I checked close and found no sign of critters, or I would have slept in my car. Utensils in the kitchen drawer were unwashed. Bathroom floor filthy, carpets old and grubby, chairs stained to the point where I have seen cleaner in a machine shop break room. While not a big thing, the TV was an old, small unit. At checkout, totally different impression of the guy behind the counter, and not a positive one. Big sign out front by the highway advertising the heated pool, which, upon entering the lobby turned out to be "closed until further notice"...wonder what was in the water?

The place appears to be a haven for transient contractors, truckers and so on, who use it as either a regular stop, or temporary lodging while on a job in the area, and it showed. I crashed for a few hours, got up earlier than planned, and couldn't even bring myself to use the shower. $69.00 for one night was still about 3X what this place was worth.

NOT a place for families, or couples who want a nice place to stay while visiting a kid at SUNY or sightseeing in the area, and leaves a pi** poor impression of the region. The owners need to throw some money at this place instead of just taking it in. Look elsewhere.

“Nothing fancy but a good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2010

The motel is right off I-87 about a mile or so north of downtown. Despite being close to the freeway, it was very quiet. Best part was the super friendly desk clerk- sometimes the staff is really what makes your stay worthwhile. She was friendly, helpful and made us feel right at home. Motel could have been a bit cleaner but the room was laid out nice, and most important, it was quiet. A very good value for the money.

“Super 8 Plattsburgh - Low Key, But Fair”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2010

Not a luxury hotel by any stretch of the imagination, but very well priced for what you're getting. We paid $65 (tax included) and the room we got had a kitchenette, and was a decent size. Plenty of towels and toiletries, and everything was clean. The hotel is located right off the 87 and right next door to a Stewart's Shop. Plus, it's as close as you can get to the Canadian border without actually leaving the U.S. The staff is honest, friendly and quite helpful. And breakfast the next morning was a nice touch too. If I've got any complaints, it's that the pillows were quite flat and the pool is under long term construction (but they won't tell you that when booking the reservation).
