The lovely log cabin-style lodge was originally built to be a B&B and was thoughtfully designed to beautifully serve that purpose. For us, it was a stopping place on our way to a vacation at Mont Tremblant, Canada, but for others, it was a destination. The property, north of the city and a short distance from the Northway, is attractive and is very close to Lake Champlain and the park. Karen greeted us and showed us to our lovely room. We selected the first floor Weaver unit with king bed, whirlpool tub, fireplace, bath with shower, and a pleasant deck. The room was attractively furnished and very comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on the deck until the mosquitos drove us in, but from there we moved to the screened gazebo. The common area is spacious, with a cathedral ceiling and stairs to a second floor walk-way to deck. Window walls and a fireplace add to the rustic charm. Ample seating and reading material are available. We drove into Plattsburgh for dinner. After reviewing the owners' recommendations, we selected Irises and were not disappointed. In fact, that meal proved superior to any on our week vacation. Breakfast prepared by Crestonwas wonderful--my husband selected the herbed omelette; I opted for the orange French toast. Karen gave us information on an alternate border crossing, which was quick. We would go back and highly recommend the lovely, meticulously maintained B&B.
