“Nothing was wrong, but everything was average.”

I'm really torn on how to write this review because I can't say that anything was really wrong with this inn. But nothing knocked my socks off either.

The inn is very attractive and clean with a pleasant front porch for reading or just enjoying the sound of birds and the smell of the Niagara grapes grown on a nearby trellis. We stayed in the Delaware room which is around back and has its own private entrance. The room itself was clean (although much smaller than the photo online makes it appear), but the bathroom was very small and the television (across the room from the bed) was about 13 inches. We enjoyed the privacy of having our own space, but the floor was very creaky and the bathroom door badly needed some oil - any midnight trips to the bathroom by one of us definitely woke up the other.

The inn is in town although it is up a hill so you don't hear traffic noise at all. And it is right across the street from the Keuka Lake Outlet Trail which offers about 7 miles of hiking - some of which is very scenic. The location also makes it very convenient to visit either Keuka or Seneca Lakes.

Our breakfasts were good and hearty, holding us throughout the morning. But they were foods that I cook at home (pancakes, french toast, etc). We would have liked to be treated just a bit.

The innkeeper was helpful if we asked questions, but otherwise we found her to be somewhat disinterested for an innkeeper. Even our 'orientation' when we arrived was a bit robotic.

Again - nothing was really wrong, but it also wasn't spectacular.

I would recommend this inn but would definitely be sure not to set the expectations too high.

“Very relaxed stay at this B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2010

We had a marvellous stay at this B&B, although it was only one night.
the room, the Seyval suite, was very spacious and truly met our needs with the private bathroom and a clean and comfy bed.
Breakfast was romanticly on the porch in the first rays of sun that morning...that makes you holiday really nice...

“Wonderful Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2010

We had a wonderful experience at Wagener Estate B&B. This is a beautiful well maintained Historic Inn on very spaceious grounds with alot of space to walk around and explore or just to sit and relax outside. Inside common areas are large, comfortable and tastefully furnished. Our guest room was the Aurore room, a very clean comfortable large corner room with a private bath, the Innkeeper was more than happy to show us the other guest rooms that were not occupied when we asked if we could see them, each room was different but equally as nice. Breakfast topped off our stay each morning, a very full and filling breakfast was nicely presented each morning, we like that there was not a set time to come down for breakfast and you could come down when you were ready, coffee, tea, juice was always put out early so you could relax and not feel rushed, and we did feel very relaxed and rested. From the time of check in to check out the Innkeeper was always friendly and available to answer questions, but at the sametime was not hovering, like some Innkeepers. Cathy has just Just the right touch, We felt very relaxed and at home and free to explore this beautiful properity. Lots to do in this area, hiking trails are just across the street. restaurants are within walking distance. and great wineries just a short drive. We will stay again at this glorious property and the beautiful Finger Lakes. Thank you for a wonderful stay we will always remember.

“Breakfast Okay – Bed Bad”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2009

We stayed a couple of nights at this B&B in the fall while in town visiting the wineries. Although the inn keeper was pleasant, she offered the minimum necessary information. Some inn keepers feel the need to engage in endless chit chat. Not this lady.

The breakfast was okay. French toast and pancakes good. Egg dishes cold and on the skimpy side.

The Inn is an old structure with some remodeling. It was set back from the main street so the location was fairly quiet. Parking is located in front of the Inn. It was clean with the typical old furnishings one would expect. The TV was about a 13 inch screen. The bathroom had a strange odor. We prefer a medium-firm mattress. The bed was so soft that we met in the middle.

On a scale of 1-5 this was probably a 2. It could have been a 3 with a better bed.

“Wonderful Room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2009

We just returned from a stay at Wagener Estate Bed and Breakfast. We stayed in the Niagara Room. Unlike the previous reviewer, I thought the room was great. We love Bed and Breakfasts and have stayed at many of them, including quite a few in the Finger Lakes. The room and the bed were extremely nice. Unlike the previous reviewer, I saw nothing wrong with the mattress. It is one of those extremely tall beds, and has a pillow top mattress. Perhaps the previous reviewer did not like pillow top mattresses. I thought the bathroom and space in the bathroom was fine. The house was built in the 1700s, this house, as with all houses built during this time frame, was retrofitted with bathrooms. If you are looking for posh, large bathrooms, you should not be staying in a historical bed and breakfast; you should be staying in a hotel. The room itself was great, and is definitely ranks as one of my all-time favorites. Plus, I thought the room was a great value for the money; much less than what the other, comparable B & Bs in the Finger Lakes are charging. Plus, this was probably the quietest B & B I've ever stayed in! The B & B sits far back off the road, and the Niagara Room is in the back of the house. So, I never heard one car drive by the entire time! My one complaint has to do with the breakfasts. Maybe I was there for the wrong three days. But, day one I had french toast. Day two, I had pancakes, and day three I had waffles. Again, I had a lovely time at the B & B, and hate to complain about breakfast, but three days in a row of pancake-type products was too much for me. I would definitely recommend this B & B. I was just a little disappointed in the breakfast.
