Unbelievable!! We wanted a getaway for our 25th wedding anniversary to spend time doing the things we wanted on "no schedule", hiking, biking and kayaking, (with a little wine tasting mixed in!). There could not have been anything more perfect. With our kayaks parked on the beach to be used at a moments notice, our bikes similarly accessible, stored in the garage, state parks within short distances and of couse multitudes of wineries, it was all there. But this we knew when planning, what we could not have planned was the excellence of our hosts, Doug and Arianne. From the minute we arrived they made us feel welcome, at home. You cannot say enough about the breakfasts, (wine tasting did not compare to jam tasting and syrup tasting) but the other little things piled onto the delights; everything ready for a fire on the beach, directions (and advice) to everywhere and anything, homemade jam as a small anniversay gift, home made bread to take on our excursions as a snack, even a pre stamped postcard to send home to the kids and on and on.
After many vacations we have said how much we enjoyed ourselves, we should do it again etc., but have never repeated a vacation in 25 years together. That has changed, we booked for a return trip before we left, and have become one of what seems like many returning guests to Finton's Landing. (A couple there at the same time as us had returned 8 times!)
I don't think I do justice expressing the delight this weekend getaway was. As with real estate, a key part of a good vacation is location, location, location, and this had it all for us, but Doug and Arianne turned a great vacation into "the perfect getaway".
