OK, so it's the only hotel in Oriskany... Came down from upstate New York for a basketball tournament and did get this special rate. But for a Ramada I did expect more. The hotel is old, no elevator for two story hotel (OK for us but for the elderly (which by the way seemed to be the only ones staying here) it's not convenient, had to ask for another set of towels for the third person staying in our room. First night they brought them up within 10 minutes, second night my husband had to go get them. Coffee in room - coffee maker in the room - I filled the 4cup maker full and it only brewed 1/4 of the pot - where did the other water go? =D We saw they didn't replace the coffee when they made the room up so when my husband called down for the extra set of towels he asked about the coffee. She said the hotel ran out of regular coffee and that we could get free coffee down at the buffet the next morning. So, ok, went down for a cup - no problem - went for a second and was told by the person running the buffet the coffee was $1.50. I told her the front desk told us we could get coffee for free at the buffet. She said the food service at the hotel is run by a separate company and that they don't have the right to tell their customers that. She said that the front desk would have to pay for it - I said "OK".
Next, the "lounge" which was quite large with a full bar closed before we even got a chance to use it the first night. Second night the guys went into the lounge and asked how late it was going to stay open. The bartender told them when he gets bored he's closing it up. And yep, when we got back from dinner it was closed. Apparently the food business is on it's last days and today is their last service. That's good because the food was terrible for breakfast yesterday - cold and premade - waste of money in my opinion.
Did I mention that I ran out of hot water in my shower this morning? And so did another family that was staying there for basketball.
One of the best things about the hotel was a nice fitness center. It looks as if it was just renovated - the equipment all looked new and there was plenty of it. Although I didn't take advantage of it one of the other parents did and she liked the equipment.
They did have free wi-fi but it wasn't working the second night. Luckily I brought my own mobile access but could only use it next to the window - Awkward...
The restaurant is for breakfast only I believe. I don't think I would have tried anything else after that first breakfast anyway.
They do have a swimming pool but it's outside - needless to say with 50 degree weather we did not use it.
Sorry, but I would not recommend this hotel to anyone even if it is just for a couple nights for a basketball tournament. I'd rather pay more for a cleaner hotel that has got it's [--] together!
