The Kykladonisia is a basic but quite pretty hotel/hostel just 5 minutes walk from the main area in Fira consisting of several rooms over different floors. Room was a decent size with a fridge and air conditioning. The staff were very friendly and helpful. If you want a handy value for money place to stay close to the shops/restaurants, then this is the place. Disadvantages are the small pool and lots of steps.

The pics you see of the hostel must be somewhere else. Getting to the hostel is no too easy. You have to take a small sidestreet full of stairs and rubish in every corner until you get to the reception.
The room we got was in a separate building. It wasn't too clean. It had 3 tiny beds whose springs tortured us all night and a small loo where the shower literally hang over the toilet. There was thooth paste that must have been there for a while all over the place.
The air conditioning was ok but the little fridge made a strange noise and didn't let us sleep all night.
The guy at reception will ask you as soon as you check in to make the payment. Of course, his credit card reader doesn't work so you have to pay cash. All places I have been so far you pay when you check out. I guess here he wants to make sure you don't run away after you see the room.
If you want to stay in a nice, clean and simple place in Thira and close to everything I would recommend you GIORGO's VILLA. We stayed there for the first night as the hostel was fully booked and then regretted having discovered this place too late. They owners are very helpful, kind and on top you get a port/airport transfer which wouldn't be less then 15euros.

We had arrived too early and the hotel was fully booked out but, Andrzej the manager, made us feel so very welcome, gave us breakfast and kept us company while the staff readied our room for us. A multi-cultural linguist with a wonderful smile, a clear communicator and so culturally responsive to the needs of all of the guests and us. Andrzej has a concise knowledge base of santorini and he guided us to the beaches, transport, shopping and watching the beautiful sunsets at firostefani. our stay wasnt long enough, i wish it had been. Thank you Andrzej and thanks to your staff for making our stay so memorable. look forward to seeing you again real soon!!

We selected this hotel based on price and convenience - we planned to spend just a few nights in Thira at the beginning and end of an island hopping holiday, and decided Fira Town offered the best sightseeing and cultural opportunities, having spent plenty of time on beaches on other islands. The hotel is about a 5-10 minute (slowish) walk from the centre where the KTEL buses arrive/depart from so can be easily reached from the airport or port, but also fairly near the top of the cable car and nearby restaurants and shops selling (mostly) tat.

Rather than a hotel, it appears to be a collection of random rooms scattered over the hillside, the rooms mostly named after Cyclades islands. The rooms (or at least the ones we had) were spacious and clean. They had cooking facilities but no pans/plates/cutlery but I understand there was a communal kitchen elsewhere if required. The pool is small, but clean and good to jump into after a hard days sightseeing. Breakfast was a simply affair (bread, cereal, coffee, juice) but was OK.

Staff very friendly and cannot do enough to help (including lugging our bags up those steps!!). The hotel also attacts a range of very socialable and outgoing characters from a variety of nationalities on backpacking type trips.

If you are looking for luxury, then this is probably not for you, however, for us, this met our requirements of being value for money, clean and conveniently located, with the added bonus of a good sociable atmosphere.

Overall, the hotel was fine for our requirements.
