we found the hotel at the port where we met the owner's son. It's a family business hotel, it's clean, quiet, fresh renewed (not rooms' fornitures, but they're really ok) with huge rooms and a very nice swimming pool. it's very close to the city center, 3 minutes of walk. all the people we met has been very kind and helpful with us and, when we left the room, we had free luggage dept and a free transport to the port.
important: try to get the room without intermediation (internet booking & c), the best way is to talk directly with them.

I stayed at the Golden Star hotel in Fira, Santorini and was picked up by the owner at the port and transferred to the Hotel which is only a few minutes away and right in the center town of Fira. You can walk to all the restaurants and bars within minutes. The hotel has fantastic views of the sea and the rooms are very clean and spacious. They have airconditioning and tvs with English channels. The hotel also has a large and beautiful pool which makes the place feel like a resort. The staff are all friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great holiday accomodation in Santorini.

my friends and i went to santorini andwe stayed at goldenstar.the best thing in that hotel was that near the center and we could go to all the clubs...the reception was an empty room.the rooms was a mess,old furnitures,bad smell in the room,dirty bathroom.everything was a mess...i did't suggest that hotel to anyone but isuggest the location ,is the best locationto stay also if you don't have car or something else

First, I would definitely recommend this hotel particularly for families with children.

To summarize, I stayed here for three nights with my wife and 4 year old son. The hotel is quiet, clean, convenient (less than 3 minutes walk from Fira main square) and very good value for money compared to some hotels in the area. Staff are friendly and helpful with complementary transfer from ferry/airport provided. In addition, the hotel not located on the caldera side is a lot safer for young children a point brought home when you actually see some of the caldera hotels in reality . The highlight is the pool which is great for kids and one of the best in town particularly when compared against the over priced caldera side paddling pools. Finally, on our last day we were able to use the pool long after checkout and later in the evening have a shower prior to leaving for the airport.

However, there are a few areas that could be improved.

The hotel is clean but some closer attention to detail would help, e.g. there was a clean towel put in the reception bathroom that someone then left a dirty hand print on. Towel should have been replaced as it looked bad.Outside pool area showers could have done with a sweep. Our shower had to be hand held as clasp to hold it was broken (didn't make much difference though). Room was nice but a little on the narrow side for three people. Breakfast could have a little more variety.

All in all nothing that would impact greatly on a very enjoyable stay.
