“Hotel is great, stay clear of Apartment #2”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2011

The hotel has three apartments which can accomodate a family of four, and two of the three rooms are wonderful. The hotel has great staff (Bessy, the day manager is extremely helpful), and the hotel is extremely clean and well taken care of. The hotel is certrally located, has amazing views of the Caldera, simple but delicious breafast, large but hard-as-a-rock beds, and a small but very refreshing swimming pool.

I can't stress this enough, you will have a wonderful experience in Santorin if you stay at this hotel, and the only reason I gave a poor score was due to the three nights we stayed in Apartment #2. This room should never be used by the hotel, and it's continued use is going to kill the hotels reputation and brand.

Apartment #2 had an extremely noisy air conditioner, and perhaps the smallest, ugliest and smelliest bathrooms I've ever seen (see attached picture as proof)..... and they charged us a reduced rate of 270/euro a night to stay here! After having a sleepless first night (air conditioner sounded like a 747 on take-off), we tried to get the hell out of there, but all of the hotels on the island were booked as it was the high season. Bessy tried her best to accomodate us by lowering the rate from 390 to 270 euro's a night, but it wasn't the money, it was the fact that we booked a 4-star hotel but we got a 0-star room.

After three nights, we finally got moved to another apartment. The new room was perfect, it's what the website pictures looks like and it fairly represented the price we were paying. It's a shame we ever stayed in Apartment #2, as I would have given this hotel a much higher rating.

Very nice hotel, just make sure you do NOT stay in Apartment #2.

“Dark Cave with horrible bathroom!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2011

i would not recommend this hotel at any price but certainly not at the outrageous rate we paid, which was a few hundred dollars a night. Yes it has spectacular views from the outdoor common area which was nice-not the room. Make no mistake, the rooms are caves, very dark and claustrophobic. And the bathroom was awful, no shower head or tub, you had to climb in to a dark corner and hold the wand the whole time. There was no place to store your toiletries and it was so small you could barely turn around in it. We used a Greek travel agent to book and traveled with another family. Their room was not any better. The breakfast was fine and the staff friendly, but that isn't enough to make it a place i could recommend. somewhere i have photo of the bathroom, if i can locate it i will post it.

“Peace in a cave on a cliff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 June 2011

We stayed here for three nights near the end of May. It was a great launching point for a very fun and relaxing trip.

We stayed in one of the "cave near the pool" rooms. The "cave" reflects the fact that about 40% of our space was a large bathroom with a giant, stylish rock-wall shower at one end. It was pretty cool although humid (a vitamin C tablet dissolved itself when left on the counter). We got cold at night but the receptionist got us blankets so it was no problem.

The breakfast provided was simple, ample, and tasty; we got some fruit to take with us on our adventures each day. It was served individually to us at our private 2-person table on a patio above our room.

Like most hotels in Firostefani, the hotel's located on a hillside above the caldera cliff. This meant we got a fantastic view at breakfast, or when we used the Jacuzzi. The pool/Jacuzzi were not hot, but you might as well visit the island's beaches instead. The walk to/from Fira (bus station, shops, and most of the action) is about 10-15 minutes --- a walk with a great view of the sea and islands.

The owner's family does all sorts of stuff like car rentals and travel bookings. So, it is pretty easy to set your whole trip up from there. Very friendly staff.

“Perfect view, great service, room glitches”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 May 2011

We chose Nomikos Villas based on the Tripadvisor ratings, and we're glad we did. The view was breathtaking during sunset, sunrise, and every time in between. We had a wonderful view of the Caldera from our balcony. The office staff, bar man, and breakfast waiter were all eager to help us make our stay comfortable. Breakfast is served on your balcony. The staff helped us book a day-long boat tour of the Caldera and islands which was a great way to spend the day, and inexpensive besides.

The only downsides were the broken heater, and lack of hot water some of the time. When spending the money on a suite we expected these basics to be working or quickly sorted out, and they never were.

“The perfect Honeymoon vacation spot!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2011

I have never written a review of any place that I have stayed before. I however, thought it necessary (even though it may be 4 months late) to comment on how wonderful and enjoyable our stay was at Nomikos Villas. Since it has been 4 months I unfortunately do not remember the names of the people who helped us, but all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We had booked a pool view room, but when we arrived, to our suprise, they had upgraded us to a one bedroom suite! You know the one in the picture!! From our suite the views were so amazing and romatic. The breakfast was given to us on our balcony which had the most amazing view! The villa was only a short walk to Fira which was a bustling quaint town. (bring good walking sandles because it is up and down the side of a hill!) Lots of little shops, food spots and bars! I think the only problem that I had was that we did like taking lunch at the suite for cost reasons. We bought some sandwich stuff that could be placed in the refrigerater in the room. The problem was that there really wasn't a place to make the sandwiches on, nor did the room have any utensils to eat with. There was plenty room in the suite for something like that. Just a suggestion...
We did want to say thank you to all the staff of Nomikos for their wonderful hospitality, you all made our honeymoon romantic and perfect!
