“THEY OVERBOOK -STAY AWAY”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

Booked my son at this very expensive accomodation through expedia for July this year, emails were exchanged regarding transfers all seemed ok.
Upon arrival my son was told that they only recieved expedia booking last minute therefore no rooms were available , despite the fact we had expedia confirmation number and had corresponded with them via email.
They ferried him to another hotel but because he was with a wedding party I insisted that he needed to be near rest of wedding party not other side of island . After a lot of rudeness and anxiety he was put into a cheaper hotel next door and they did not refund difference!

Customer service disgusting total denial of any wrong doing. We were in Rome as this experiance was being unfolded on our son.Not agood start to holidays.

Their reservation system and staff are underhanded, unproffessional, and unapologetic.

“Great location, but hotel needs maintenance”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

We stayed at the Athina Repose Suites at the beginning of October 2011 and had mixed reviews of the hotel.

The pros: The staff was great. They were very nice and were happy to offer advice on places to go, things to do and see and places to eat. Stefano greeted us at the bus and carried our luggage down all the stairs during the 5 minute (ish) walk down to the hotel. Sara was great in switching our room at our request - we were originally put in the lofted studio room (bed was upstairs on a loft) and our next room was much more comfortable. The location is fantastic- it is situated right in Fira town with unbelievable views of the town and the sunsets. You can walk from the hotel up to the main part of Fira though it is about a 3-5 minute walk uphill. That didn't bother us, but just a warning for those who may not do well with a lot of stairs. Another plus was that the bed was a true queen bed rather than two twin beds pushed together like we found at other hotels we stayed at in Greece.

The cons: The hotel is in need of major updates and maintenance. While the hotel facilities and rooms are clean, they aren't as clean as they could be because of the dingy tiles, bedding, paint etc. The hotel and rooms have major potential and would be top notch if given the TLC they are in desperate need of. The other con would be the breakfast. While it was nice to have breakfast available, it was minimal with only pastries, cereal, yogurt and fruit, the coffee was cold, the milk usually needed to be refilled and it didn't have any hot food (eggs, meat, etc.) like the included breakfasts we had at other Greek hotels.

Overall, we enjoyed the hotel for the location but were not impressed with the quality. While it cost less than many of the other hotels in the area, we still felt it was quite overpriced for what it was and definitely not four-star worthy.

Room Tip: Make a request not to get the studio room with the loft. The bed is upstairs and the bathroom downst...

“Wonderfully accommodating.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2011

When we first arrived, Sara greeted us with the bell boys to carry our luggage down the stairs. That was such a big help as there are A LOT of stairs, and we were very tired from our 10hr flight.

Rooms - In US terms they are not 5 star, but you you aren't going on vacation for the room. The bathrooms were modern, and the room (Junior Suite) was spacious. Everything was in good working condition, and we enjoyed our room. The terrace was our favorite. We would often have drinks before dinner watching the sun set.

Location - Amazing. The views were indescribable. You are paying for 5 star views. You are right in the heart of Fira, but far away from the hustle. The location was perfect for us.

Service - The manager, Sara, was so accommodating. When we first arrived she gave us her personal cell phone number, along with all other contact information. We received wine and fruits upon arrival, as well. The bell boys were always very helpful, but very mindful to let us have our own time. The cleaning lady was very sweet.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone. We enjoyed laying by the pool, and having the convenience of going up to town whenever we felt like it. The staff was great, and we would go back in a second.

“Overpriced and not a four star”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2011

Having just read the last few reviews I have to agree with everything they say. We booked four nights at Athina as a treat, we had travelled from Athens and stayed on three other islands before arrving on Santorini. We had moved from island to island every two days so were looked forward to relaxing for four nights. Like the other reviews we were also advised that the accommdation was over booked and we had to spend our first night in a resort outside Fira. We were upgraded to the Honeymoon suite when we arrive back. The room was ok but I would of been extremely disapointed if it had been my honeymoon and we ended up with this room. The terrace furniture should of been binned as it was faded and falling apart. It is not what you would expect from a two star let alone a four star. The bedroom was dark and at night the pipes make squealing noises, the bathroom had mold growing around the shower tray. There is no bar or staff on site apart from the receptionist, so no drinks by the pool. The pool area and view you cant fault they are wonderful but the internal parts of the hotel let it down. If you are spending this kind of money stay somewhere else I have stayed in better two stars than this.

Also Fira town is full of cruise ship day trippers, Oia is far better.

“Avoid at ALL COSTS - This place ruins your holiday”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011

Considering the amount of money you pay it is one of the worst hotels we have ever been too.

It is rated a 4 star hotel but the level is more like 2-3 star!

We booked for 7 nights - On the way to the hotel we receive a phone call saying they have over booked and we have to stay in another hotel for 1 night and then be transferred across so we lost half the next day moving! Once we arrived the rooms are quiet old, the TV is from 1960 and only about 2 channels work, the bathroom was not very clean!

On our first shower the bathroom started flooding, and after advising management it took 2.5 days to fix the problem. We also had a constant squealing noise coming from what we think was the hot water pipes.... which made it very difficult to sleep at night! We advised management who told us this problem has never occurred before...... only to read other reviews on trip advisor that other people experienced the same problem.

Management was not very compassionate about the issues we were having and were not to fazed by our concerns. They kept telling us the problems were fixed but they clearly were not! And we are not sure how hard they were trying to fix them either!..... It didnt come across that they were trying very hard at all. The main manager just kept spinning a story rather than telling you the truth.

The main manager was very unprofessional in discussing our complaints with other guests in the hotel as a guest came and spoke to us about all the problems we were experiencing.

Breakfast was very basic - there is no information in the rooms about the hotel or santorini - and the hotel does not even have an iron and ironing board for you to use!

The only good thing about this place is the view and location....... but you can get that elsewhere for a much better price.

Book somewhere else.
