“A gorgeous and big hotel but hard to find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

Although I now stay with friends, I would highly recommend the Santorini Palace. Very luxurious. Morning breakfast buffet with all you can eat. The hotel is huge. Ask for a room facing the pool.Even tough i stayed for three weeks I had hard time finding my way around. The rooms are so-so. Nothing extravagant. You can walk into town but the walk back is very steep. I had to have landmarks to find my way back. i also locateda church that was nearby. It's cheaper in early May and October. The prices rises dramtically. WhenI made my reservation for three weeks the front desk questioned me on how Iwas going to pay for such along stay. i showed them my travelerschecks, credit card and cash.I was offended and told the manager,"Who do you think? Minnie Mouse?" Make sure to put your valuables in rented safe.

Room Tip: Pick one facing the ocean

“In need of a complete refurbishing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

I don't know who gave this hotel 4 stars as it definitely is not worth it. The hotel badly needs a total refurbishing as it is in a very bad state. Very basic rooms. No elevators. The hotel is not suitable for elderly or disabled guests. The only thing positive I can tell was the food. It was excellent. I can warmly recommend the hotel restaurant but nothing else about the hotel.

Room Tip: As the food is really good I recommend the hotel restaurant but nothing else about this hotel.

“Good location but a bit dated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2011

This hotel is in a very good location. Easy to get to the cliffside path and also close to the bus stop if going to Oia for the sunset!
We had a lot of rain while we were there for 3 nights in October and the outside doors made the walk to the breakfast area a guaranteed soaker. We did not plan properly so didn't bring proper clothing for this sort of unexpected weather so that was our fault. It cooled down so much at night we had to turn the heat on in our room.
The buffet breakfast was ok and had the usuals to get your started in the day. We had dinner at Mama Thiras which is part way down the hill from the hotel and it was fabulous - definitely recommend it.
The front desk went above and beyond to help us with questions we had about our ferry tickets and schedule to Mykonos.
We absolutely loved the island and plan a return trip to Santorini. Definitely bring good walking shoes! At every turn, you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view.

“Great location, pleasant stay.”

Santorini Palace is a very nice, though old, hotel. It is directly across the street from a parking lot from which you get the most famous view of Santorini....the blue church dome and church bells. It is about a 5 minute walk to the cliffside path from which you get such beautiful views your eyes can't take it all in. We walked the path to Imerovogli and then came back thru Firostefani and Fira. The sunsets are spectacular. The hotel is also about a 10 minute walk to the little winding streets of Fira which are full of restaurants and shops, and there are other good restaurants, such as Akteon and Mama Thira which are a hop, skip and a jump from the hotel. Now for the hotel itself. No doubt, it is old, but it is clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast is pretty standard, not the best I've had, but there is enough there to fill up on. We had a beautiful view from our balcony of the east side of the island so that when we woke up in the morning we also got to experience the beautiful sunrise. One negative of the hotel, and I'm not sure if all hotels in Santorini are like this, but it is built on many levels and there are no elevators. Walking from the lobby down to our room and then up again was a killer after all the walking we did during the day, but we made it.

“We loved it and wil be back, but this time in late August”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

In early July, the sea water was very very cold (need to go in late august or early september. The vista from any spot on the island is breathtaking but do not expect to see white sandy beaches since instaed of sand, you will find a ground thick grainy texture of sand on the sea shores but dont let this deter you. This island and its sister islands in the Cyclades are blessed by the Gods (you know, Zeus and his gang!!). Night life: All that you ever wanted. Dont miss out on the other islands as well. Its all worth it. Sites are unique on our planet. Bon voyage!

Room Tip: Try to get a room overlooking the harbour and especially one that has, other that just a balcony, to...
