“Thera-ble”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2011
2
people found this review helpful

Pros:
- Proximity to Fira town centre
- Pool

Cons:
- Reception not very helpful
- Room was in basement next to laundry & maid service therefore it was very noisy (no hotel should ever place a guest in a basement next to laundry and maid service)
- uncomfortable beds and cheap linens
- room had a broken curtain rod so curtains wouldn't close all the way - I had to use a hair clip to close curtains properly
- rooms were not clean (sand in room and in bed)
- bathroom was TINY and shower was as well - a phone booth would be an improvement
- wi-fi was a fleeting rumour. It worked occasionally if you were right in front of the front desk but it never lasted long enough to check all of your emails or to send any
- very high prices offered at their bar and restaurant
- no parking available for cars; only scooters
- breakfast exists but nothing special; very meagre selection of continental style breakfast options
- this hotel is just above a hostel

We stayed at this hotel 3 nights with our transat holiday in mid July and we were very disappointed...the ladies at the front desk were very rude and I woke up to a cockroach on the floor of our room, not impressed!! And Wi-fi would not reach beyond the lobby...will never be back again!

Dear Sir/Madame,

We are very sad you didn't like our hotel and our staff, especially when at least the 85% of our visitors find the receptionists and all the other staff pleasant, helpful and professionals, as we see from their opinions, researches and agencies critics.

As far as the cocroach concerns, i would like to remind you that when people come to islands or places everywhere in the countryside, flies, mosquitos and other small insects must be expected

Ending, to answer to your concern about the internet access, i would like to say, without wanting to justify, that the hotel is situated at a small island in Greece with a high percentage of humidity, so sometimes the signal is good, other times is quite weak.

Thank you for listening me.

Lekkas Athanasios

“Avoid at all costs!!!! Horrible place”

We stayed at this hotel as part of our Transat Vacation package to Greece. We stayed 3 nights from August 1-4 and found this place to be our worst experience when we were in Greece. Staff is so unfriendly, except the night manager, he was nice, friendly, and assisted us with our atv's. We were on the first set floor of rooms and there all dungeons!!! Dark, no view, smallest bathrooms ever and dirty! The claim to have wifi, yet I had to sit outside on the stairs in order to get the wifi (we were skyping our family back home). Definitely avoid this place at all costs!!!

Dear Sir/Madame
We feel very sorry that you were not satisfied from our service and our hotel specially when most of the people of Transat Holidays leave from here with the best comments and very satisfied from the hotels service.
As far as the room concerns we would kindly want to inform you that they are not dungeons in KALLISTI THERA HOTEL. There are rooms that they are situated at the first level and they have very nice access to the gerden yard and the fountain of our hotel.About the cleanness of the rooms we can guarantee to you that the housekeeping staff is very trustable since they work here over 5 years.
Ending to answer to your concern about the wi-fi we would like to inform you that the hotel is built on a small island where the humidity daily reaches the 70% of the atmosphere so its very logical sometimes is quite weak. For these situation we have the internet point area so if anybody wants to check something emergency he can use it 24 hours and also free of charge as the wi-fi it is.

Best regards
The hotel Manager

“Overall, a poor hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2011

Beware, this hotel looks nice from the outside, but it's a completely different matter on the inside. The hotel staff is nice enough, but not accommodating at all when it comes to customer requests. We were assigned a room on the basement level, the room from hell. It was a dungeon to say the least. The rooms are small, poorly decorated and just not very inviting. The bathroom was super small and the shower stall even smaller. A plumbing sound like a screeching noise would happen throughout the night, making it hard to sleep. When we asked for a different room, we were denied, saying the hotel was fully booked, even thought the room next to us was vacant the whole three days we were there.
Our room was located near the stairwell, were the laundry facilities were housed so the maids could be heard at all hours of the day. The towels were hard and rough. Hotel does not invest in fabric softner obviously. The pool area was nice enough, but we never saw anyone using it.
Breakfast was mediocre at best and there was this greek lady in the breakfast room (presumably the owner, cuz she was always around the hotel) who kept an eye on things and berated her employees in front of customers.
The hotel is close to town though, but just not worth the hassle of staying there. It's a two star at best and resemble more a hostel than a 4 star hotel they claim to be.
Stay at El Greco, just down the street if you want a nicer hotel.
