My husband and I stayed here for three nights in August 2011. It was by far the most beautiful place I have ever stayed. The room was really unique; I felt as if I was staying in a little piece of history, knowing that it was once someones home. We stayed in the "Room with the Big Rock". It, like all the rooms, were caves that were completely painted white, and there was a large boulder coming out of the wall by the bed. You would think that the rooms would feel dark or damp being that they are caves, but it's actually the opposite. The ceilings are quite high and it felt very airy and refreshing, plus there are lots of windows.
The bathroom was very nice, recently upgraded I think. There was a small kitchen with everything you would need to make breakfast, coffee, etc. We had our own terrace with the most spectacular view of the caldera. And keep your eyes out for adorable tiny lizards. They can be seen on the white stairs headed up to the town!
It was lovely to hear the cruise ships blowing their horns down in the caldera or the church bells ringing. I highly recommend going to the bakery on the main street and buying a Mille Feuille to take back and enjoy on the terrace!
When we checked in, a young man helped us. I think he was the owners son. He carried all of our luggage down the MANY steps to reach our room, showed us around the room, and then gave us a map of Oia and recommended restaurants and things to see and do. While it is on the high end price-wise, it is so worth the splurge. If you can get it, do! When I first emailed, I was told that they don't book for less than 4 nights, but I explained that it was all the time we had in Santorini, and they made an exception for us. The owner was also very friendly and helpful! Highly recommend this beautiful oasis on Santorini!
