“Just fabulous in every way”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2011

My partner and I stayed here for a 2 night break in the Kiwi room, and we didn't want to leave! La Fargo is an oasis paradise in the hot, rocky terrain of the Corbieres. The hotel and restaurant are stylish, impeccably clean, and the service is genuine and friendly. It was a delight to have dinner and breakfast on the terrace overlooking the vineyards and gardens, underneath a canopy of lights and kiwi fruit trees! We loved the kitchen garden, watching the chefs choose what was ripe, then seeing it on our dinner plate that evening. The restaurant and wine list (with many fine local bottles) are outstanding, and even if the hotel is full, it is really worth having dinner here. Avoid the tourist traps and mediocre food in nearby Lagrasse- you will not eat anywhere better than La Fargo in all of Corbieres. This is everything you would want from a small, luxury family run hotel. It is also fully wheelchair accessible, although not a personal concern, it is great to see small hotels integrate this into every aspect of their property. The pool is gorgeous too, with a little "infinity" corner which gives the illusion of cool water meeting sharp schist in the distance. A lovely touch- but then again this place is FULL of lovely touches. We can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Some don't have air conditionning; be sure to ask if it is important to you

“Just beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 June 2011

Tempted not to write a review as I would like to keep this place secret!! The countryside is stunning. The rooms spacious simple and airy. (Hard beds are good for the back but we didn't find them hard - go to India then you will find out what hard is!!) Food wonderful. A perfect end to our holiday - thank you

Room Tip: I suspect they are all great.

“IF YOU WANT PEACE AND QUIET”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 June 2011

This must be one of the most peaceful places in France and could certainly be in the 'Relais du silence' guide if the proprieters so wished. They have carefully converted an old forge into a building with some bedrooms and an excellent restaurant but the nicer rooms are just slightly apart and have their own terraces overlookig the pool and the vinyards.

The restaurant has only a short menu but everything is well prepared with produce from the local markets. Breakfast on the terrace is excellent with lots of home made preserves and local honey.

The bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious and well equiped and unbelievably noise free.

The propieters both were extremely helpful and both speak excellent english.

The only negative point is the location which is rather far from any towns or even large villages but if you want somewhere to unwind this is the place for you.

“Lovely hotel in quiet countryside location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2010

Excellent hotel in the countryside close to Lagrasse. We stayed in one of the older rooms over the restaraunt which was quite large and was tastefully decorated. I was a little concerned at first that there was no air conditioning in the room (which was odd as there was a/c outside in the corridor!). However the hotel is in a valley close to the river and in the evening it was relatively fresh and we were never too hot.
The pool was lovely too although the flower beds around it could have done with some attention. However the view from the pool was beautiful, there were plently of beds and the hotel provided towels!
Food/restaraunt was also very good. We ate outside under a huge blanket of kiwi fruits which provided great cover from the sun. There did seem to be an expectation that you would eat in the hotel in the evening albiet there are plenty of other restaraunts in the area. It was made clear to us when we arrived that the responsiblity was ours to tell the restaraunt if we were not eating with them. That seemed odd as we had booked in on a a b and b basis. On one caasion we tole them we would be eating out. The following day they questioned why we had not made dinner! We explained that we had told them we would not be eating....they did not seem impressed and made us feel as if we had done something wrong!
Having said all of that please don't be put off because of this! the location and quality of this hotel is excellent. Well worth a visit!!!

This was a wonderful stay. The staff, the room, the food & wine all really perfect. Staff really friendly and helpful. The 'infinity' swimming pool beautiful and enjoyable. The surroundings & setting is so calm. A great place to stay for family with children as well as couples. I will be returning in about 2 weeks and am really looking forward to my stay.
