I wonder if we really stayed at the same hotel as the previous reviewer? Can things really have changed that much in a year?
First of all the hotel is located on a dangerous corner of a main road (with no pavement, so on has to dodge the traffic to get to the front entrance) in the middle of nowhere. OK, the river is not far away but you can hardly see it from the hotel or it's small grounds.
Our welcome was totally charmless (in complete contrast to everywhere
else we stayed in France). The room was smelly thanks to the presence
of the type of lavatory which has an electric pump to grind and dispose of waste material... It was also on the front of the building
with two windows overlooking the dangerous road corner.
At night, it was very hot (and smelly) but we could not have the windows open because of the constant roar of traffic. There was a portable air conditioner in the room but it did not provide any cool air even on the maximum, and very noisy, setting.
To add insult to injury, we both got up the following morning - after the worst night's sleep imaginable - to find that we were covered with bed bug or flea bites.
Never again!
The delightful Hotel Plaisance (a Logi de France) opposite seemed a much better bet if one was forced to stay in this location. The evening menu was cheaper too!
