Hotel is on a golf.

Nice place, friendly and helpful staff. Good value for money.

We booked our September 2010 stay at this hotel back in February through Expedia and at that time the information we found on the hotel's website showed and talked about a lovely gourmet restaurant. So it was with some shock that we arrived to find the restaurant closed and 2/3 of the hotel rooms shut - they've been having a bad year, apparently. The lack of restaurant was very disappointing because it meant instead of the relaxing dining experience we had hoped for we had to drive out to restaurants every night. There is now a notice on the hotel website homepage which explains rather unclearly that they only do B&B (though the pages describing the restaurant are still there). We can't say whether this was there at the time of booking but we certainly didn't see it.
The hotel was very quiet - no more than 2 other sets of guests at any one time while we were there - so there was zero atmosphere. Although it added to the tranquility we would have welcomed a bit more of a buzz..
Our final gripe is that the directions to the hotel on the website and from what one gets from Google maps or on our satnav take you to a completely different road some km away from the actual location. So we spent a frustrating 45 mins driving around and asking passers by for directions. The hotel knew about this but haven't been able to do anything about it, apparently.
All this was even more of a shame given the fantastic setting of the hotel overlooking the Dordogne valley and the beautifully appointed room we had as well as the elegant lounge and restaurant (breakfast only!). Like the other reviewer, we would have enjoyed eating on the terrace but it was a bit too hot.
The staff were friendly and polite but it's an expensive 4* hotel (Euro 215 + 15 for breakfast) and so our impression was inevitably negatively affected by all this.

We spent a week at Rochebois as a base to visit all the many splendors of the Dordogne, Lot and Vezere Valleys. It was a great choice!

We stayed in room #41, a large beautifully appointed room with a massive terrace. Room # 42 shares the same large terrace and great views. There is a frig in the room. The views at night are lovely as well, you can see many stars and the lights from Domme across the Dordogne. Breakfast was quite good with many cheeses, meat, fruits, breads and eggs made to order. In good weather, having breakfast on the terrace is delightful.

They have closed the second wing of Rochebois at this time and are only offering rooms in the main section. The restaurant is closed as well and the place is currently being run as a B&B, though breakfast is extra. The fitness room advertised on the web site is no longer in service.

It was a little cool to use the large infinity pool, but my husband enjoyed playing a round of golf on the pretty course. It was fun to hear all the frogs croaking at night- there were many of them in the water hazards on the course below. Besides the frogs, all you heard were birds chirping. This is a blissfully serene and beautiful place.

The staff was friendly and helpful. We arrived late on the first night and they scrambled to find a place still serving dinner. They alerted us to the road closing at Roque-Gageac on our final day. They loaned us umbrellas on a rainy day.
I hated to leave- this was a perfect spot for the various activities and just far enough away from the crowds at Sarlat.
