“September 2011: fantastic!”

We stayed at the Sultan Palace in September 2011 and had a great holiday. Our stay formed part of a three-legged holiday: 6 days in the Selous game reserve, 6 days on the Zanzibar beach and 3 days in Stone Town. In brief, our Sultan Palace highlights include:
- Beautiful surroundings characterised by well-kept gardens, ocean views, authentic interiors (ranging from the detail in furniture to paintings to the bar to the pool table) and high standards + attention to detail throughout
- Great recreation comprising an infinity pool + massage area, bar, use of the boat, snorkeling etc. In addition to which the hotel can organise, in short notice where required, a wide range of activities that for us included an excellent mangrove tour + local crab lunch and a tour of the red colobus monkey reserve
- Breakfast, lunch and dinner: great variety of dishes cooked to high standard using local ingredients combined with Italian flavours and techniques; as well as great locations for the meals: be it at the beachfront, balcony, room, restaurant, infinity pool etc.
- Friendly staff that was there when needed, entertaining, friendly but by no means over the top
- Last but not least Paola’s hospitality, professionalism and efforts to make guests have the holiday of a lifetime

“Fantastic hotel with a lot of character and style!”

We stayed in Sultan's Palace in September 2011. We got upgraded to a large suite with a fantastic view of the ocean, so that was a double whammy. Rooms are large, beautifully done and have fabulous views. the sit-outs with the large divans add to the charm. Paola was especially warm and took very good care of us. Her staff is also very nice and pampered us - from greeting us at the beach with coconut water, as we returned from snorkeling, to making us a special zanzibari meal. It was perfect! A big thanks to you for making our holiday special!

We would definitely recommend Sultan's Palace to everyone, especially to couples looking for a quiet and idyllic holiday. We are vegetarians, and we got a good variety of food. The hotel itself is so beautiful, and has character. It is not like one of the many 5 star hotels that all look the same. The architecture and the way it is done up, is splendid.

Paola can also organize day trips to stone town or to a spice garden, and we would definitely recommend the latter!

“Wow!”

In the words of my kids - "this is the best hotel we've ever stayed in"! But, seriously, the hotel is excellent. Run like a boutique hotel on several acres by the Indian Ocean, it has spacious, carefully done up rooms. The room we stayed in was larger than an average New York City apartment and the bathroom alone was bigger than many studios. Mozzie nets and a large sea facing veranda complete the picture. The 'infinity' pool is excellent and there is WiFi in the main house. All this would by itself be great but the best part is the food. Full three course meals served at a table in the main house (indoors for dinner and outdoors for breakfast) and lunch served in an oceanside dining area, each meal different but all meals delicious (the fish in coriander sauce on day 1 was to die for!) My kids are vegetarian and Paola, the owner, produced enough variety over the few days we were there. Throw in the calm waters and the white sandy beach and you can't go wrong with this place. The only downside is that it is far from Stone Town so you'll need to do what we did - stay a couple of nights in Stone Town as well.

“Loves Sultan's Palace”

We stayed at Sultan's Palace after safari in kenya. The staff especially the manager Sylvia were great and so accommodating. The chef prepared vegetarian meals for my husband - and every effort was made to make our stay perfect - this is a quiet hideaway - very few suites but magnicient surroundings.

A perfect stop for a restful and romantic honeymoon or holiday!
