“Let down by le meridien”

Booked this hotel blindly in may 2011 just because I thought meridien was a name I could trust! Never again I booked online and it said it was five star. It was more like a hostel the room the shower Everthing was dirty and outdated. We checked in and we were shown to our room. I checked out after half and hour could not stay In such a place. They tried to charge me for the night which I was willing to loose so I could get out of there €370 after speaking to the manager I managed to get my money back. This was a very bad start. But the res of the holiday was superb at the Hilton northhome.

“Not good at all”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

There are a rating system of hotels in order to help travelers to decide hot hotel to choose and what they can expect. This hotel was once perhaps a great hotel. But not any more. It's very outdated and you can expect more from a good youth hostel than what this hotel delivers in terms of facilities. Yes, there is a pool and a couple of restaurant etc. But everything is old and worn out. This is no good for the Meridien name.
Staf was k and the breakfast too. The location is boring and it was obvious that the people staying at the hotel felt that they had made a very bad choice... We stayed just one night and could laugh about it. We had a Hibiscus-room and it costed €400/night which is simply ridiculous. €100 would have been a fair price.

“Fantastic honeymoon!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

Had a wonderful time staying at the Le Meridien. Staff is super friendly, hotel is beautiful, and food is great. Were there for our honeymoon, and it could not have been better. Loved the room with the rainfall shower in the middle of the room, the tub lets you overlook the ocean, patio overlooked the pool and the ocean. Went to the restaurant a few times, good food, and went to the bar many times as well. So relaxing, and since we were there during the Soccer World Cup, they had a flatscreen set up in the bar area, which was awesome. Great location, too - short walk to some restaurants along the beach, the local market (try the coconut milk and the octopus curry - to die for), and there are always friendly cab drivers around to take you to a restaurant or around the island, which was great as well. Definitely a great hotel to spend a romantic time away from everything!!

“Stick to the Far East or Caribbean”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

The hotel is showing its age although only 7 years old.On the 1st day there my foot went right through the decking surrounding the pool
The open plan showers and bath mean that half the room gets soaked when you're having a shower and we had to mop the floor with the towels after showering to avoid breaking our necks.Unfortunately despite several reminders our towels were not always replaced.
Despite the monsoon -like conditions the Seychelles experiences ,accessing all the rooms and villas requires that you go outside, while large pools of water form in the public areas when it rains. The food in the upmarket(seriously pricy) restaurant was very good but the buffet in the main restaurant was poor. A local restaurant called Lascala offers vastly superior food at a much lower price.
For a hotel charging $600 a night it certainly doesn't offer good value. I would tend to concur with the reviewers who have categorised The Seychelles as overpriced with poor service levels

Room Tip: Don't bother
