“Great Guesthouse”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 June 2007

We have just come back from a two week holiday in Cape Verde which included a 5 night stay at the Migrante Guest House. The house has been very tastefully refurbished in the old portuguese colonial style and is very comfortable and welcoming. There are only four rooms all set on the first floor and leading from an open air communal patio area - the rooms are very pleasing, the whole atmosphere is of staying in someone's home with a lovely personal touch. Sal Rei itself is very quiet and not much to do but the Migrante have a vehicle and driver which you can hire for island trips and we highly recommend doing this. We went to some fantastic isloated beaches only accessible with a 4x4 by somebody who knows where they are going! Also worth walking round to Estoril Beach to Bahia de Estoril beach bar where you can hire sun loungers (50% discount for Migrante guests), enjoy lunch and watch the kite surfers.

“Great, away from the rythms of tourist villages!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2006

Just a few rooms, each with its own distinctive personality, for exigent and demanding travellers with a preference for a smaller environment and warmer, charming ambience.
The Migrante Guest House is a very good quality guest house, completely restored from a colonial-style house, right in the heart of Sal Rei, the main (small) town on the island of Boa Vista.
It has got a tiny, charming bar and an amazing patio, with its exotic atmosphere: a real arabian rijad that is the herart of this old house.
We had great breakfast there and every evening we did not go to sleep before having a great moijto (the best ever...) under the soft colourful light of ancient Moroccan lamps and having nice talks with Cristiano, the owner.
100% relax ...
Our room was very spacious and well appointed, with a really nice ethnic/moroccan furnishing: wooden floor, wood bed with white linen and baldachin, nice colourful lamps.
To the small harbour and the small beach where the children of the island are used to play soccer and relax are just 50 meters.
The biggest beaches ( AMAZING! ) are about 400 meters away; you can reach them with a great walk through the village, where you can still keep in touch with the friendly inhabitants.
All in all: Boa Vista is the ideal place to chill out and the Migrante the best choice on the island.
Will definitively go back to Boa Vista and of sure to the Migrante Guest House.

  • Liked — The room, the atmosphere and design/deco of the whole house.
  • Disliked — Nothing! Bravo Cristiano!
  • Tips/Secrets — Go there before the island becomes too touristic :-)
