we stayed here for one night in apr 2007. the hostel is in a rundown area. the hostel itself is ok without being outstanding. no individual sink in the room as in some hostels. the chinese lady who runs the hostel is very chirpy. so much so she offered to telephone through our order for a chinese take away - she seemed pleased to do this. what wasnt so endearing was she stood over us whilst we began to eat our food, staring at what was on the plate. No doubt she was curious, but it was off putting.

the only tv channel that was working in the tv lounge was fox living....oh,great!!

the lady asked me whether i wanted a drink of cola with my chinese food, so I said yes, and she said that'll be 50 cents. i wish this had been pointed out to me properly and verbally beforehand. not that im hard up for 50 cents, its the principle.

all in all we were glad we just spent one night here (how long does it take to see niagara falls after all) before moving on.

the hostel met our needs in that it kept the rain off and the bed was comfortable and warm and realitively clean. furniture in the room was non existent apart from a chair and some coat pegs.

internet was charged at $0.10 per minute but net connection was S-L-O-W. dont plan on doing much on there. the machine i used was an old pentium 2 running windows xp.

all in all this place is basic, but im sure you could find better if you wanted or needed too.

recommended if you are on a very tight budget.

Due to visa problem, I had to stay at American side of Niagara Falls. Since there was only one hostel in this area, I have no other choice, though i was kind of worried because of these previous reviews. But my experience here was amazing. The house is a lovely historic building with a 150-year history. Room and bathroom were very clean. The owners were super nice. The location was within a reasonable walking distance, also they provided bicycle rental service. As to the lockout time from 9:30am to 4pm, it did not seem to be strictly followed. I saw people coming and going all the time. I would recommend this hostel to all my friends.
