I stayed at the East Deck for two nights for a quick family reunion in Long Island. I was pleasantly surprised at the hidden treasure my girlfriend found. The East Deck is a nostalgic snapshot of the past. Warm customer service, scenic beaches, and much needed privacy! This is not a bougy resort typical of the Hamptons... This is a real motel. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves in LI, and had an especially great time at the East Deck!!! If you get a chance, stop by The Dock... great local bar, delicious food!!!

I adore the East Deck - I've been coming for years. The wonderfully welcoming women who own and run the motel provide a lovely friendly atmosphere. I cannot imagine a more calming and restful place to enjoy the beach, the sunsets, relaxing on the deck, watching the surfers, etc. I just returned from a long weekend at the motel and had to send a thank you note to the East Deck thanking them. This is a direct quote from my note: "thank you for providing East Deck returnees with such a fantastic and easy experience. As you know, I love coming to the East Deck. I love that it is not a fancy shmancy place; rather, it is a restful respite from all the trappings of our hyper-materialistic culture that we are all so caught up in. Thank you for keeping it as it is. It's wonderful and one of my absolute favorite places anywhere."

We heard about the East Deck through a friend of ours who did a few photo shoots on the property. They told us that this place was worth checking out and we were glad we did. Its got a laid back vibe that really sets it apart from the [--] show that is the Hamptons. The rooms, although no frills, were clean and ironically hip due to their legitimate 50's style. The staff were friendly and accomodating and the pool was great (you dont see them that big much anymore). However the best part about the East Deck was the beach. Its the only motel east of town thats right on the ocean in an area called Ditch Plains. We heard about the surfing in Ditch Plains, so we had to experience it ourselves. Their were three or four surf breaks directly in front of the motel and a few more just a few minutes down the beach. So needless to say, we got our fill of the waves. Our only dissapointment was having to head back home. We tried to book another weekend in the summer but it was completely full through labor day and most weekends after that. So we are taking the advice of the staff and booking for next year NOW!

My 84-year old mother, sister & I spent 4 nights at the East Deck and loved it. It ain't The Ritz, but has so much charm that we fell in love with it. RIGHT on the water so anyone who wants to relax and just walk along the beach, or watch surfers, can easily do so. The catering truck, The Ditch Witch, has amazing food...the best meal we had while in Montauk. Try the Veggie Wrap and/or Sesame Noodles.

We had no issues with noise from families or surfers at all. In fact, it was great seeing all those good-looking guys hanging around ! ;-) The owners & staff could not have been nicer.
