I stayed at the Days Inn while driving home for the holidays because it's so convenient to 81S and it accepts pets, so my dog could come home, too. I checked in close to midnight and was planning on sleeping until 10:00 a.m. because I'd been driving for so long and check-out wasn't until 11:00 a.m. The room was spotless and the bed was really comfortable.
Everything was fine until around 9:00, when the housekeeping staff decided to have a really loud conversation outside of my door with the "Do Not Disturb" sign on it. Then, they decided to vacuum the hallway outside my room. Finally, more conversation outside my room. I'm not sure if this was intentional to get me to leave early, but there was certainly no way that my room was desperately needed, especially since it was still an hour before check-out. It was so rude and inconsiderate. I realize housekeeping (and I think the manager was there, too) have a job to do, but surely it does not have to be done right outside a room with the "Do Not Disturb" sign. There was no place else in the entire hotel to converse?
I might have been able to get over this, even though I was so tired. I probably would have stayed there again because it was so convenient and the price is great. Then I noticed that I was itchy and covered with welts. At first, I feared bedbugs, but bedbugs don't cause giant welts like this. Fleas do. At last count, I currently have more than one dozen fleabites and, as soon as I got to my parents' house, had to do wash everything that had been in the room for fear of fleas getting in their house. Yes, I had my dog with me. No, he does not have fleas, thankfully. I'm the only one who gets to suffer from this.
