I read the reviews online before staying at this hotel and they were all wrong. My friends and I liked the proximity to the mall and that there was breakfast included......that was all this hotel offered. The rooms were disgusting......dirty glasses and questionable substances on towels and sheets. Not to mention the floors were not clean or vacuumed. After arriving from a day of shopping my friends and I wanted to relax but that was not the case......the state of our rooms were unimaginable.......not to mention the horrible stench of smoke and not just cigarette smoke as well as questionable guests. A weekend that was supposed to be fun and enjoyable was anything but...........

We stayed at the Quality Inn for an overnighter while visiting a relative at Syracuse Univ. The hotel has very easy access for getting on and off I-81 which was great. Nothing fancy here on the outside. But inside the hotel was pleasantly clean and modern. The breakfast had the typical morning offerings. Wireless internet was free. There was a little gym on the second floor. Parking was plentiful. The rooms were a bit odd because you walked right into the sink/bathroom area (no vestible after the door). This was just a strange set up I have never seen before in a hotel room. The room was clean and large. Also, it had a coffee pot, desk and chair, microwave and fridge. Four pillow on each bed. Nice, clean room for the price. The staff was friendly. They gave us directions to the university at check-in and chatted with us for a bit at check-out. Seemed like nice people.

This hotel is now a Quality Inn. Our stay there was fine, the room was clean and a nice size, the bed was comfortable. The staff was courteous and the continental breakfast was good. The lobby could really use some change. When you approach the front desk, you cannot help but see into a very messy office. There was a good little restaurant next door called Tully's where we had a good meal. We would stay at this hotel again.

Here's why I stayed in this hotel: It was right off 81 and the Thruway; it was under $100 all in (with taxes); there was a restaurant next door which, while unimpressive, allowed me to have a few drinks after I checked in without having to get in my car. I booked the hotel from the hotel parking lot with Choice Hotels' excellent telephone reservations system. I was pleasantly surprised by the bed and linens. The breakfast was free and included (in theory at least) home made waffles. The crowd was such that I had a little cereal and hustled back to my room with my coffee.

I did have one odd experience which bears telling. First, it is important to note that the phones can be reached from the outside by anyone who knows your room number. On average, I would count this as a good thing, except... When I checked in my message light was flashing. I checked and there was no message. Twice before going to bed my telephone rang but there was no one there. I unplugged my phone. At midnight my phone rang again (this was when I discovered there was a second phone in my room). I got up and unplugged it. The next morning when I plugged my phones back in there were two empty messages which had come in around five a.m. My wife was the only person who knew I was in this hotel and she made none of these calls. Management had no idea what had happened. Hopefully this was just an odd one off experience; still, it made a less than favorable impression.
