The Econo Lodge can take a beating, proof of which is the flock of triathletes that descends here every year for Ironman and turns this place into what must be a living nightmare for the housekeeping staff and the management (our apologies and thanks from us and all the other triathletes that do this to you every year). It is not a fancy hotel (even though the rate during Ironman week would make you believe otherwise), but it's convenient, close enough to downtown to walk but far enough away not to be stuck in the crowds constantly. And the view on race-day is like no other - the bike course passes twice and the runners pass 4 times in front so plenty of action. Breakfast is dismal, but that's what you have energy gels and power bars for. The Lodge provides old towel cloths to clean your bike (best amenity ever), free wi-fi and a fridge in some rooms. We'll be back next year!

We stayed here with our two preschoolers while driving between NYC and Ottawa. We arrived very late without a booking but a very friendly reception staff member sorted us out. The rooms were more than adequate, had free high-speed wifi and were very clean. There was complimentary light breakfast in the morning and overall we were very impressed given the low cost of the room.

Great value for Lake Placid- Stayed here when our usual place in Saranac Lake was unavailable. Will probably stay here next time. With our corporate discount we got a clean queen room with large screen TV, refrigerator, table and chairs, bureau and desk, hair dryer, wireless internet (did not use) and cold breakfast for about $71 dollars before taxes. The hot water was hot and the heat worked. Some interior corridors in auxilary buildings. Heard another guest through the wall or outside glass to terrace, but quiet most of the night. On the edge of town but no more than 5 minutes to the center. A bit dated but who cares. Stay here, ski all day, and save your money for the many interesting restaurants.

We booked this hotel for one night. The room was OK and fairly clean. It wasn't as nice as other places I've stayed but for the price it was adequate. The facilities like the pool and hot tub looked fine but we didn't get the chance to use them. I would probably come back to this place again.
