“Stay at the Crowne”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

We travel all over the northern US and Canada for our daughter's hockey and stayed for 4 days and 3 nights. I have never paid so much for a hotel that was in such disrepair as this one. The room smelled like mildew, the carpet was ancient even worn through in some spots. We had a sliding glass door in our room and you could stand near it and feel the cold air blow right in. When we got up, every morning the sliding door would be frozen shut due to the condensation freezing. Ice would be all over the inside and the carpet would be wet and frozen in front of the door. The back driveway up to our room was very icy as were the sidewalks. Good thing I had 4 wheel drive to make it up to our room. This place needs a serious upgrades and maintenance. Not to mention no WiFi. Really? The only good thing was the location and the breakfast wasn't too bad. To think I paid $180-190 a night to stay here infuriates me. Two years ago I stayed at the Crowne for less than this and that hotel was amazing. Too bad it was booked or else I would of stayed there this time. Stay somewhere else.

“Grossly Inadequate...Moved To The Crowne”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

Booked the hotel on Best Western's website.

Ended up with a suite that was not connected to the hotel...you had to walk outside to get to the main hotel. My young son who likes to swim would have to walk in the cold to return to the room. No wi-fi service even though I contacted the 800 number multiple times. The 800 number people said the hotel had to turn on the service to our room but after 3 calls from the 800 service they still did not respond.

The room had old furnishings and the carpet was old and worn. The floor had a hole in it under the carpet and my husband twisted his ankle on it. The bathroom tub had mildew in it and the room was quite cold.

The view was of a parking lot. Weather was mild but we had to put the vehicle into four wheel drive to get up to the back parking lot.

It it is an old Inn with an old smell about the whole place. Mildew smell.

We were offered an alternative room. Unfortunately is was very small and smelled of deodorizer to hide the mildew smell.

Little or no effort was made to resolve the situation. Hotel Management rude. I think if the attitude had been different at the front desk I would not be writing this review. Best Western may want to analyze their association with this motel.

Moved to the Crowne...Less Money...Great Service.

“Very relaxing stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

I visit Lake Placid at least two times a year. I always stay at the Best Western Adirondack Inn. I find the oversized bedrooms very comfortable, the staff very friendly and helpful and the location is unbeatable. I was there this weekend to hike one of the 46 high peaks with my friends. We had a great dinner at the restaurant (Nicola's) right next door to the hotel, then went for a nice stroll down mainstreet, then back to the hotel for a great nights sleep in preparation for our 12 mile hike early the next morning. They have an indoor swimming pool which was just updated with a new liner , hot tub and a sauna which were great for my aching muscles after the hike. The hotel has a great adirondack feel to it. I highly recommend this hotel.

“Older hotel - GREAT location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2011

This hotel is located accross the street from the Olympic hockey center/speed oval on main street. Main street is the main shopping area. Hotel's free breakfast was worth just that. Entire hotel was in need of updating although nicely decorated in adirondack style. Our room was spacious and clean with a slight musty odor. Bed was OK but had sizable body imprints. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Nice indoor pool w/whirlpool. The carpet in this place has got to go!!
