I needed a place to stay in Lake Placid on an last minute trip. I usually stay at Art Deviln's (which is a great clean motel) but they were booked. So I spotted the Alpine Motor Inn just outside of town, they had a room available and fairly cheap too. The room was disgusting, it was dirty, there were tiles missing in the bathroom floor so when I walked in the bathroom with bare feet loose grout would stick to the bottom of my feet. The bathroom was dirty too, mildew on the shower curtain, no toilet paper holder (just loose rolls of toilet paper sitting on the back of the toilet), the bathroom sink dripped constantly. The curtain in the room was dirty and almost falling down. The bed looked pretty dirty, luckily I had my sleeping bag with me and I slept in that on top of the bed. The outside of the motel has weeds growing out of control everywhere. I didn't use the pool but I saw it and it was about half full of water and the water was a strange color also overgrown weeds and debris and litter laying all around it. It is obvious the owners are just taking money and not putting anything at all into the upkeep of this place. Even if they don't want to put money into they are obviously too lazy to do simple things like clean up the litter, mow the weeds, keep the rooms and the pool clean.
I do have 2 positives, the rates are fairly good and the restaurant is pretty good but that is because I believe the restaurant are different owners.

Was looking for a last minute place to stay in Lake Placid. Website stated they had 4 different rooms available. Booked a Queen room quickly and easily, Received a confirmation email at 1:30pm that my reservation was set. Packed our bags and were excited for our trip. Received a voicemail at 9:30pm while at work that our room was "no longer available" and to call back to let them know we received their message. Spoke to owner/manager in the morning to express our disappointment to which he responded several times "I'm having a hard time hearing you" and offered no apology, except that he hadn't updated the website. Not the greatest way to run a business.

Clean, comfortable and close to the ski slope. Very friendly and helpful staff. The ski & stay was a great deal.

Yes the hotel is a little worn - but absolutely wonderful people - they do try to take care of place - will do whatever you need if they can! the Restaurant and Bar are leased out but have great food and drink - definately recommend - the rooms are clean and warm - nothing fancy - but great for value - clean and cozy - summer or winter - highly recommend.
