After hearing good things from friends, we were disappointed in our stay. We were looking forward to just being able to park our car and not have to drive anywhere, as the Lodge is right on XC ski trails and they advertise that they served dinner. When we asked about dinner, first we were told it was for a minimum of four people. When we said that 2 additional friends would be joining us the next day, the innkeeper claimed to have a meeting she had to go to that night. (As it happened, she stayed in the evening in question because "the meeting was cancelled," but she never offered to do the dinner in any case.)
Further dishonesty was around the availability of rooms. They knew we were trying to meet friends in the area at the last minute--we were told the only room available was the most expensive on the property and that all the moderate rooms were taken. When we arrived, all the moderately priced rooms were open and remained so throughout our stay.
In general, it seemed like the innkeepers were going through some sort of difficulties in their lives (e.g., every request was met with a grudging response, breakfast wasn't served on time, etc.), but even if this was so, it's no excuse for unprofessional behavior and dishonesty.
