“Cozy, casual, and completely enjoyable!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011

We stayed here because we like the warm cozy feelings of a B & B. It was exactly what we hoped for! The location is very convenient and quiet and the Lake Placid town shuttle bus stops directly across the street so you don't need your car to get around town. It is not mentioned on the website but there is WIFI available and it is fast and secure.
Aggie prepared an excellent breakfast for us and encouraged us to relax and enjoy ourselves.
I highly recommend the Winterberry.

“Nice Place - Good Meal - No A/C In Room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 July 2011

We stayed one night at the Winterberry B&B. It was a lovely place in Lake Placid, NY. The host was very gracious and cooked up a nice breakfast in the morning.

The location was close to the main town and there was ample parking. It was clean and had an overhead fan in our room, there was no A/C that I could distinguish. The bathroom was attached to the room by a hall with no door.

I would recommend it for the price.

“Great value in Lake Placid”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2010

We spent one night at the Winterberry in early September 2010 and very much enjoyed our visit. The room was clean and comfortable and Aggie was a very friendly and accommodating hostess. The breakfast was delicious and included juice, fresh fruit a home baked lemon cake, raspberry pancakes with maple syrup, sausages and good coffee.
This is very good value for $80!

“great place, amazing value. "Adirondack" and "Tiffany" rooms are best”

This place is a really top-notch bed and breakfast. Aggie, the innkeeper, is amazingly nice and she cooks some of the best breakfast I've ever had. We had a breakfast egg, tomato, and sausage casserole that kept up my energy on a subsequent morning hike. The inn is located just a bit outside of the main Lake Placid strip (a 3 minute car ride or 20 minute walk away), and I think I preferred that location, actually. It was nice not being right up against the shops.

The inn itself is kept very clean, and Aggie has lots of books about the Adirondacks on hand that helped us with our trip planning. The only part of our stay that wasn't perfect was that the Cottage Room where my fiance and I stayed was a little smaller and adorned less modernly than the Adirondack or Tiffany rooms. But we were in that room because we called a night before we had planned to stay and Aggie was able to accommodate us on last-minute notice.

The bottom line is that there's no way you'll find a better place for the $80/night that is charged, and you probably won't find a better place even by paying $150/night. Definitely stay here.

“A hidden gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2010

My husband and I had the good fortune of chosing the Winterberry for our 2 night stay in Lake Placid which is located on a quiet street off a main road. Our large room and private bath was much more than we had expected given the very reasonable rate. Our hostess, Aggie, made us comfortable the minute we walked through the door. The common room is very nice with comfortable furniture and a wood burning fireplace which she lit to take off the chill one afternoon. We took Aggie's advice and enjoyed the horse show and a wonderful mexican restaurant. We had not expected such cool temperatures and Aggie came to our rescue by lending us two sweatshirts - now how nice is that? Aggie sets a beautiful breakfast table and supplied us with a wonderfully delicious breakfast complete with coffee (the best we had on our 12 day trip), juice, fruit, breakfast breads and entrees complete with sausage. It was evident that other guests enjoyed their stay as well. At $80 a night for a clean, quiet, comfortable accomodation at such reasonable rate, we felt we hit the jackpot. Aggie is a gem and so is her B&B. We'd certainly stay at the Winterberry in the future.
