“Concerned when reading reviews, dont be its fantastic Value”

Hotel a little way out from Sen Strip but every thing eles excellant value for your money, had a wonderful week only down side pool was cold. Take no notice of the stupid gripes some people have if you want 5* Holidays pay 5* price's and don't go to a 3rd world country.Had a wonderful stay with our family. Thank you to local Gambian people for a fantastic stay in your country!! Where eles can we get wall to wall sunshine 5 and a half hours from home in Feb!! If you use the Green Taxis to get to Sena Strip ask for Moses he looked after us well and even took us out for the day for a fraction of what T Cook charge.
Give your money to the locals they deserve it!!!!.

“not the best 4 star "Gambia"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

4 of us stayed at the sheratan from 24jan 2012 for 10 nights, it was our 6th visit, the hotel has its own beach and the pool looks like it joins the sea, beautiful..... you do need a taxi to get to go anywhere but these are easy to get from the hotel grounds at very good prices. the beach was lovely the pool was divine and the rooms are ok, not 5star but good enough for me and my partner to sleep in and get ready in to go out for the evening, the rooms are tired but they are cleaned daily. the food was repetative but very nice, drinks were easy to get and tasted like we get at home. before we went we checked trip advisor and some reviews said it was a windy, well it was, however that suited my partner and friends because it wasnt too hot and sticky. The sea was cold at first but once you braved it, it was a pleasure body surfing in the waves. Entertainment was there but nothing major however this kind of holiday is usually for couples who like to chill and chat.If you want a bit of nightlife you must take a trip in a taxi for £400 dalasi into Senegambia. This is where you will find few bars and restaurants, but don't expect too much night life. However great to people watch......All in all a very relaxing holiday, the staff were so friendly and helpful, as they are in the villages.....this is why we go back. Anyone going to the Gambia for the 1st time must go with a guide into the villages to experience their culture and way of living. Please dont be afraid to venture out on your own or walk the lovely beach, you will be approaced by the locals but they are friendly and they just want to make conversation with you, they may also ask you to go to their bar (lol).... must just add that the lighting in the rooms are very dim so sometimes it was a bit of a challenge to put your makeup on. We loved the holiday , it was 28degress it was relaxing and we were treated nicely, what more can we ask for..........

“ok for a late deal”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

We have just returned from a weeks stay all inclusive at The Sheraton Gambia.
We enjoyed our holiday very much however we would not return to this hotel .
If you are planning on staying here please please do not pay the brochure price (try get late deal)
good points
secluded setting
plenty of choice for food
plenty of sunbeds
spotless rooms comfy beds

bad points
any tom, dick ,harry can come and lie down on sunbed (we saw this happen countless times)
raggamuffins having strip washes under poolside shower
food luke warm rooms not cleaned until 6pm every day
bar often ran out of beer,o j,water branded spirits/liquers not included in A/I
50% staff were horrid mainly the ladies abrupt 'kissing teeth' when you annoyed them
doesnt matter how much you tip you still get slow service with no smile
hotel manager creeps round with phone attatched to his ear looking busy .
overall We would not recommend this hotel

Room Tip: dont pay extra rooms are all the same

“First rate Gambian 5*”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

This was our second trip to the Sheraton in Gambia & it didn't disappoint. The location is perfect & the rooms clean & spacious. The food was outstanding & the restaurant / bar staff wonderful. They all make a real effort to talk to you & even remember your names. The enthusiasm & jolly smiles of these people are second to none. It could be tricky taking children as it is difficult leaving the hotel due to the local bumsters. There are not as many in this area as in the main tourist parts and we overcame any problems by befriending a local who took us out & about. Just remember it is Gambian 5* so things may not be quite as polished as you are used to, & we found any problems we incurred, the staff tried their best to rectify. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a rest & relaxation holiday. We will be returning next year.

Room Tip: I would recommend not paying extra for better rooms as they all appeared to be really good.

“Good Value for Money”

Hotel could do with refurb. in some areas.2 Oldies (bird watchers) had agreat 3 weeks. The breakfasts are excellent even though they no longer squeeze fresh orange juice like last year omeletts etc made to order.Lunch & Dinner adequate food could be hotter but good selection and plenty for big eaters. This was an all inclusive Hol. with Thomas Cook and the drinks available were fine Local spirits and branded mixers coffee & chocolate pots of tea all on demand. Our room was OK with Air Con. balcony with super view and the room maid Kaddy couldent do enough for our comfort. The staff at this Hotel make the Holiday, all friendly & Helpful.
Bird watchers The Gambia is GREAT and the resident guide Karamba Touray cant be bettered.

Room Tip: We went up one grade I think its worth it.
