The friendly proprietor generously offered to pick my husband and I from the airport, but as we were arriving from Senegal, we were unable to coordinate this. Which is unfortunate, because it resulted in extreme hassles at the airport.
We opted for a bungalow, without kitchenette. It was spacious, and still equipped with a mini-fridge. However, there was a leak in the bathroom, causing a puddle right outside of the bathroom door, which did not close properly. There was one roach in the bathroom. The room was not equipped with mosquito nets.
The included breakfast was enjoyable, generally consisting of eggs and fresh fruit. The grounds were extensive, although in need of landscaping, and populated by some rather territorial monkeys. We were able to bird watch from our patio.
The walk to the beach was less than five minutes, although one must add time for all of the "no thanks" given to the numerous men and women attempting to sell various wares. Once on the beach, the only way to end the hassles is to rent a lounger or buy something at one of the beach side restaurants.
Hotel Bakadaji accepts only cash. The ATM machines DO NOT accept Mastercard (only Visa), but we found a supermarket which was able to forward us cash with our Mastercard.
