My husband and I booked a room at the Travelodge when we drove up to Lake George for a family party. We had no option but to bring our two small dogs, and unfortunately we discovered that a) not a lot of decent hotels/inns accept pets in that area and b) of those that do, the nice ones book up very early! We were left with three options, and this was the most appetizing.
It's important to note that the building pictured is only one of three buildings at the Travelodge. We stayed in a building around back which looked very different, past the registration office, on the first/ground floor. (This incidentally involved walking down 5 or 6 steep wooden steps to get to the ground level, not a problem for us but certainly an inconvenience to a family with smaller children/strollers or anyone with limited mobility). The bathroom, surprisingly, was the cleanest part of the room. The carpet and beds smelled musty, and there were suspect amber-colored spots on the box spring, as well as a lot of hair under the mattress (human, by the look of it). There was also no refrigerator, though there was a room safe. The other biggest downside to our room (#306) was that our upstairs neighbors thumped around quite a bit, and we heard everyone pass by outside our door--very flimsy construction. We went off to attend the family function and upon returning at 11pm at night, decided we'd rather make the 4.5 hour drive back than remain there overnight. We ate the money and drove home.
Unless you're desperate, as we were, I would seriously avoid this motel. Staff was friendly, cleanliness only so-so, but the biggest downside was room location and noise. We paid a discounted rate and with the pet fee and taxes, it totaled $160 and change. Way overpriced for what was offered (I paid just a few dollars more than that to stay 1 night in a boutique hotel at Union Square in San Francisco in June, for comparison's sake).
