“Outdated, but excellent service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2011

we stayed there Sept 2011 for the labor day weekend. we booked via priceline for about 90 usd a day. the rooms were outdated. but the view is spectacular. the staff are so friendly and helpful i have stayed in bigger hotels, but they never change towels daily clean rooms etc.. these guys were awesome. we got the rooms near the office. the view of the hills and the lake were spectacular.
after reading the reviews, i was very skeptical about the bfast. but it was awesome. we have waffles, eggs, warm biscuits, oatmeal, English muffin, beagle, bread, mini muffins, and fruits. i would really recommend this place if you can over see the dated bathroom and spend more time outdoors.

“Affordable, close to Lake George Village”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2011

I usually stay at one of the hotels/motels along Lake Shore Drive but as I was only staying for 2 days, I decided I wanted to be closer to the village where I wouldn't have to be bothered with driving into the village and finding parking which by the way has gotten ridiculously expensive, 25 cents for 15 minutes is as bad as NYC.
The hotel was very clean, the grounds were kept nice. The view of the lake was great plus on the first night I was there, from my room I could view the fireworks in the harbor.
If you are looking for luxury this is not for you. We had a king size bed which was comfortable, the amenities were ok, and the continental breakfast was sufficient for a quick get up and go. If you are looking for eggs benedict or pancakes, French toast, etc., go elsewhere.
If you want a simple bagel, English muffin, cereal, toast, oatmeal or waffle then this is a good deal. They also have hard boiled eggs, mini pastry, coffee, teas and juice. The price is right too; free......This is not directly in the heart of the village but on the main drag, about a mile or less south. They have trolley service BUT the only drawback is that you have to take it southbound and then transfer to a northbound trolley.
We had a minor problem with the bathroom sink which they fixed immediately upon me calling the front desk.
The staff was friendly. Would I stay here again, yes I would.

“Not worth the money, even if they do accept pets...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2011

My husband and I booked a room at the Travelodge when we drove up to Lake George for a family party. We had no option but to bring our two small dogs, and unfortunately we discovered that a) not a lot of decent hotels/inns accept pets in that area and b) of those that do, the nice ones book up very early! We were left with three options, and this was the most appetizing.

It's important to note that the building pictured is only one of three buildings at the Travelodge. We stayed in a building around back which looked very different, past the registration office, on the first/ground floor. (This incidentally involved walking down 5 or 6 steep wooden steps to get to the ground level, not a problem for us but certainly an inconvenience to a family with smaller children/strollers or anyone with limited mobility). The bathroom, surprisingly, was the cleanest part of the room. The carpet and beds smelled musty, and there were suspect amber-colored spots on the box spring, as well as a lot of hair under the mattress (human, by the look of it). There was also no refrigerator, though there was a room safe. The other biggest downside to our room (#306) was that our upstairs neighbors thumped around quite a bit, and we heard everyone pass by outside our door--very flimsy construction. We went off to attend the family function and upon returning at 11pm at night, decided we'd rather make the 4.5 hour drive back than remain there overnight. We ate the money and drove home.

Unless you're desperate, as we were, I would seriously avoid this motel. Staff was friendly, cleanliness only so-so, but the biggest downside was room location and noise. We paid a discounted rate and with the pet fee and taxes, it totaled $160 and change. Way overpriced for what was offered (I paid just a few dollars more than that to stay 1 night in a boutique hotel at Union Square in San Francisco in June, for comparison's sake).

“Very Impressed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 June 2011

Let me start off by saying that I chose this hotel because we were bringing our family dogs and this hotel allows pets for an additional $20/night. We only stayed one night for a day trip, It could get kind of pricey to stay here for a prolonged period of time with a dog.

The Bad:

The carpet showed the dog hair very well, but that being said there was no previous dog hair on the floor when we came in, so they must clean the room very well.

The walls were kind of dirty but it blended in very well with the paint, I would recommend that this hotel paint there rooms more often as this was the only thing not visually appealing about the room.

There was also no Wi-Fi in the rooms, you had to venture over to the main office if you wanted to use the Wi-Fi.

The Good:

Aside from the walls the room was very very clean.
The check-in and check-out went very smooth.
The continental breakfast was VERY good for a hotel. There were no cooked eggs besides hard-boiled but there were waffles, danishes, bagels, etc. The breakfast room was large and uncrowded and offered a beautiful view of the lake.
They allow pets.
The pool looked very clean although we did not use it.
The beds were comfortable, the room had forgetful toiletries beyond what I have seen at other hotels of similar class, and it was overall a pleasant stay.

I would hands down stay here again, the price is a little more than what you would pay for a similar hotel but not much more. They also do allow pets and at a good price for that.
