My family and I have vacationed at Lake George for years and have usually stayed at a small family-operated motel just a few doors down from this place, This year, I wanted to stay at a place with more of a "resort" feel, with more activities and things to do. The website advertises a beach, pool, playground, game room, volleyball, and basketball, and as the name implies, it sounded more like a resort than just a place to rest your head. Don't be fooled. The beach is a very small strip of sand and the water area roped off is so small you can't swim, just wade. Even my 7-year old exclaimed "How can I swim in that?!" The so-called playground consists of a plastic swingset (2 swings and a slide) on a strip of grass wedged between parking lots. The set in my backyard is larger and nicer. The "game room" is actually a closet with two pinball machines. You get the idea.
Overall, the place has a weird layout and feel. Almost all of the rooms are situated so that the balconies actually face north, overlooking the parking lots, with a distant lake view. It's in need of renovation and the rooms and public areas are not very clean. Oddly, even though set in the beautiful Adirondacks, the place feels more like a concrete jungle than a rustic retreat. Plenty of white cinder block, black top, and metal rails, with a row of tress on the edge of the property and little green space in between.
As far as the room: none of the windows in the room actually opened so the only way to get a little air is to open either the front or balcony door, and of course, there are no screens on the doors. The room definitely could have been cleaner. Otherwise, the beds were fairly comfortable and everything worked fine.
Next time, I'm returning the small motel with the pool for the same price.
